Some assume I just grew up knowing I'm hotshit or whatever, but I had very poor self-esteem as a child, I even had a severe ED at one point. But anyways, I think once I was around 15 I was in a school where we had a strict dress code and no makeup etc, and I just became so comfortable with myself and my life has been much easier. I don't think I'm more than a 7/10 but I can appreciate if others think I'm cute, but if they don't it's not very important to me, because I can't change who I am. I feel you. It's not easy for anyone to fight it by themselves. I feel as if I have been for a while now, too. It is incredibly hard to open up to friends, even family. Even when people say that they understand, it is unlikely that they do, unless maybe they've gone through it too. I think that is the hardest part. Even if you're surrounded by friends, the loneliness still feels like it's there, if that makes any sense. I have a hard time articulating it. I wonder if anxiety would be nearly as bad as it is if it was coupled with the depression. The worst part of it is the depression, imo. Because even when you're not feeling very anxious, the depressing thought of knowing that it may come back is what makes it feel constant. And through my personal experience, opening up to your partner is a very healthy thing to do. Whether it is a bf/gf or just a close friend. Even though I said that I think it is unlikely that they'd fully understand it (which I still believe to be true), they'd still know the reason behind your pain.
Sorry to ramble on like this and talk about more depressing shit when you're going through a rough time, but for me, talking about it is very cathartic.

Not too great. I haven't done much today. I went to class in the morning, and then spent the next 5 or so hours studying and reading Herodotus. Then I came home, took a 4 hour nap, went to McDonalds, and now I'm chilling on here.

I feel the same way. And it sucks because ancient Egypt and Greece seem like very vibrant and interesting societies. We have a lot of infomation on Greece, but as you said we don't know how accurate it is, and we know even less about ancient Egypt.
