It began as a parody of SRS, or Shit Reddit Says, which is a community on reddit dedicating to pointing out racism in the worst subs and then bitching about how terrible all of reddit is. So on April Fools day moot created this board, and although it originally was a somewhat accurate parody of SRS, it quickly devolved into ironic funposting and forced memes

Yes, but the true purpose of s4s is unknown to moot himself. There's a dark secret rumored to be hidden in this board. Read between the lines. Not every meme is ironic: some contain smidgens of truth, that when pieced together, will describe the actual nature and ultimate goal of s4s.
Ever since I discovered this side of s4s, I've been driven to pursue every lead I could find. Sometimes I would be led to other, obscure boards and 4 month old threads, yet every piece of the puzzle inevitably leads me back to s4s. This has made me inclined to believe that s4s is the origin of this mystery.
Do not read the next part. It behaves similar to a memetic cognitohazard. Knowing about *it* will forcibly compel you to undertake efforts similar to mine. This is an unlofty pursuit: I fear that my sanity is slowly washing away after every discovery. It's still not too late to turn back. . .

Recently, I've discovered something extremely horrifying: it appears that this board is an experiment into the reality bending power of massive groupthink.
Using memes as a vessel of change, ideas are introduced into the board which are then manifested into reality by the unconscious mental effort of the board's denizens.

While there are more users on those boards than s4s, the strength of meme magic in s4s is significantly more powerful than in those two boards combined. This is why I asked you to not read this in the first place. By being ironic enough to post, let alone visit this board, you had a power within you to change the very essence of reality itself.
However from now on, every time you try to use this power, you will inevitably use it consciously. This no longer becomes ironic, but the opposite: sincerity. The very mechanism of the power has been removed, and thus you are effectively powerless.
But maybe we can get it back. There has to be an explanation for why this happens. There must be a way to alter reality consciously, now that we've proven it can be altered. For now, all I can do is chase leads endlessly until I take back what was lost.
