Guys I need some videogame recommendations.
I'm looking for games that:
>are preferably Japanese in origin but do NOT have an explicitly anime otaku pandering art style or aesthetic
>have bright colour palettes, preferably take place during the day
>have very arcade like UIs and structure, lots of visual information on screen and ways to rank you such as score and time
>are level based
>have minimal cutscenes, ideally it could have many short, unvoiced cutscenes
>is only 4-6 hours long
>can easily be picked up and played with almost no time waiting between the opening and level one
Like Katamari Damacy here. Katamari is one of the perfect examples of what sort of games I like.

F-zero GX is an extremely fun but ultimately not very comfy game because of its blistering fast pace and exceptional difficulty.

You know it's funny you say this.
What motivated me to make this thread to begin with was that I have been a fan of Nintendo games all my life, but their recent game design direction I severely dislike so I'm looking for non-Nintendo that occupy the niche they used to.

do a barrel roll tbh
>>3908626
Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 as well as Mario 3D Land/World are dramatically slower paced than Mario 64 and Sunshine, which had snappier movement and more movement options in general. The jumping was also less floaty and the turnaround speed was faster. The wall jumping and side flipping in Mario 64 was significantly more fluid than Galaxy, and Mario didn't slow dramatically after a long jump in 64 like he does in Galaxy. They're also significantly less challenging and call for less precision than they used to.
Beyond that, the constantly reused art assets, musical cues, overall structure and lack of significant changes in mechanics from one game to the other have just led me to be fatigued from the whole series.
I'd consider DK:TF superior to any NSMB game.

Chibi robo is a pretty fun game it's like a more upbeat Pikmin.
