Need a quick verdict on maintenance: decided to experiment last night attempting to use /toy/'s Favorite Chemical (Pledge Tile & Vinyl Finish, alternatively Pledge With Future) as a polish, and while it actually made my suit duller, it also seemed to lend it a slicker texture akin to a chlorinated suit.
Could acrylic solutions such as Pledge Finish be viable as a temporary or permanent alternative to chlorination? Trying to look up safety advisories on Pledge's website returned nothing but assurances that the stuff was chlorine-free, so I'm not sure how this stuff might affect skin after it's dried into the contact side of a garment, but previous handling experience in liquid form indicates no real health hazards as long as you apply common sense (wash afterwards if handling with bare skin, do not ingest, etc.)
At the very least, if successful it'd let me loosen my latex budgeting in the future by cutting me free of Catfish's atrocious $50 per item chlorination fee (or $100 per order of 3+ if you e-mail ahead for their special bulk service item).

I'd probably avoid using something like that, looking at an ingredients list, lists some rather interesting chemicals, including a few solvents, personally I'd avoid using something like that on latex.
If you're up for it, you can try DIY chlorination, it takes a bit of getting used to and is a bit pricey to get all the appropriate ingredients and equipment, but chances are if you are using catfish to chlorinate then you'll be saving anyway.

Chemist here, and honestly it will depend polish to polish. If the polish is oil based then that's almost certainly bad, a silicone polish would be a better alternative.
Unfortunately, lots of them have an oil component as well as silicone (almost all of pledges range have silicone and petroleum derivatives in), so you're most likely best off buying something specifically for latex.
I've never tried it but DIY chlorination shouldn't be too hard if you have the open space to do it in safely. Just make sure you don't breathe in any chlorine gas ;)

I've seen some for sale on RubberEva, but not many other sites. As long as it's comfprtable to wear, the adjustment part doesn't matter. My head isn't growing anymore (no pun intended). Well cleaning the shower using a bathroom cleaner and mixed with bleach gets very aggravating to inhale, that's why I ask. And if I can use anywhere else, it's a plus. I have looked on UltimateSlut/SlinkySkin, Cathouse, and other sites, but cannot find a good gasmask. For protection real gasmasks can be quite cheap, i have a collection of about 10, filters are actually more expensive if you want something that really works.
Easiest way to convert a regular mask in to hood-type is to put a openface-hood over it. Just make sure the hood is stretchy but snug enough and result is very close to real hood-mask.

Ah, I certainly agree that's aggravating, and if you mix products like you said you can have some really bad by-products that you do not want to inhale.
As another anon said the filters are not cheap, but I guess you could get an Israeli gasmask as shown in your pic and attach a long enough hose so you can get your air from somewhere away. Those items should be common and not too costly, and as said, you could add a separate hood if you'd want to.

That kind of depends on what country you're in. If you're in the US I'd say find a military surplus or survivalist site that sells gasmasks. I bought my Israeli M4 through one of those companies. It might be easiest to just search "Israeli M4" or "British S10" depending on the mask you're looking for. Unfortunately I don't really have any experience with US rubber companies. Someone else may be able to recommend someone in the States.
If you don't mind paying the shipping from Europe there's a variety of sites. I bought an S10 hood from Latex-Maske.de, which after I removed the troublesome hair protector has turned out to be a great hood. I recently bought some accessories (some tubes and adaptors) from Bizarre-Lifestyle.com, but have yet to receive them so I can't comment on them.
But yes, the gasmask with the short tube in that prior post was an Israeli M4, as was the mask on Lucy in your post regarding shower cleaning. In fact I think all the posts featuring a gasmask in this thread have at least one M4 in them, other than this last post of yours, which is some sort of US M9 or one of its many copies (perhaps Finnish or Yugoslavian)
