Hi, I have been receiving threats to me and my family by email, so I want to know if there is anyway to get some information about the sender to figure out who is this person.

you can look into the email-headers.
Usually contain mail-server ip or address.
But anyone with a little knowledge can spoof everything and make the mail look like it's coming from your own address.
Report to somebody who has knowledge of this stuff.

You could go to the police like a normal person

For why? To charge them? If so, go the police.
If revenge is want, then hire a good tech, pay them well. Find person, solve problems.
I had this happen to me a few years back, luckily I had no trouble finding out who it was. Burned her mother's house down. Mother wasn't home/didn't know that. She has never spoken to me again
