Anyway, I deliver pizzas part time while i'm getting my degree. We assume (or are hopeful) that we get a tip when we bring you your food. $2-4 is the average. I've never heard of anybody making a scene for not getting a tip. However, if we get regular customers that we know tip well they get extra toppings and we deliver to them first, whereas people that are notorious for being rude/never tipping are not a priority. We end up paying less as customers in the end if there is tipping. The store doesn't have to pay the wait staff nearly as much, which allows them to sell food at a lower price. I've lived off gratuity before, and, while not lavish, I actually did well, I actually did my work and did it well and I was rewarded for it, most nights I'd net a little over $20/hr.
