There was a purge in 2012, it's when most of the Kemalists were purged. I remember a naval officer on tv saying "20 years of experience and labor gone to waste". So many officers sent to prison, pretext of preparing a coup. Erdogan blames gülen's judges prepared the cases at that time after they lose their friendship in 2014.
