You can just drive somewhere and do fun, you can sit in front of a screen to have fun, but back in the day there was fuck all to do so they just drank. Besides, drinking is fun. Sure, it's a vice and should be kept in moderation, but it's nice to kick back with your lads and drink. It's also a good drug to meet people over, reducing inhibitions and what not. Personally I'd say compared to society's other favorite, weed, it's more fun. I'm usually pretty on edge and up in my head, so weed just makes things worse. Liquor on the other hand makes me more affable and confident.

Alcoholics drink until they pass out unconscious.
Not like how you might drink or how you see on TV. They are not asleep. They are unconscious. They'll come around and vomit and push through, only to drink more. This can go on for weeks at a time. Eventually they wake up on the floor, or in a strange place, or in a cell. Some don't wake up again. Hundreds of bottles later, litres of alcohol... they might come around for a day or two... only for the thirst to come around again.
It's truly a sad sight but like all things to do with the human body and extremity, it sometimes just makes you say "Wow!", the human body is truly a marvellous machine... the way it consumes...

I don't know what it is but there's something in my genetics that makes it where I just can't drink responsibly. I've tried and failed many times but I just can't, if I start drinking I'll keep drinking until I'm drunk as shit. I used to be able to down a 24 pack of budweiser in a single night easy.
Now I haven't touched any form of alcohol in 3 years. The only way for me to not be a raging alcoholic is to just not touch the stuff at all.

It's very simple really.
Addicts care fro nothing more than to know where they will get their next high or buzz from. No matter the cost.
For instance. My mom will never get to know her grandkid since she won't stop drinking long enough to even sober up. Ain't no way in hell I'm letting my kid near anyone who is high or drunk or stoned.
I have personally quit everything that can alter my state of mind besides caffeine.
My kid will not have to be a shrink for an alcoholic. I will rather die than let that happen.

I'm a construction worker in Phoenix Arizona trying to save up enough money to go back to school living in a studio apartment. The thought of drinking Alcohol and relaxing is the only thing that stops me from jumping off the roof sometimes when I'm at work, which I have considered to the point where my boss has legitimately voiced concern for me. Shit, alcohol turns my 5/10 naggy GF into a 7.5/10 and makes me nicer to her.
