It's comical at this point. Hollande's speech could have been word for word what he said after Bataclan. This time he's REALLY going to crush ISIS in Syria & Iraq. This time the state of emergency will REALLY pay off.
There's a scene in Hoellebecq's novel "Submission" that sums up this moment really well. When he walks through the streets there are always random explosions, fires, etc. He has no interest in them and it doesn't seem that anyone else does either. Who is responsible for them is really not as important as the image of the modern Western man so self-absorbed that he barely even notices his world burning down around him.
