Sure, it was better than Carter (not saying much) but the overall thrust was a viciously neoconservative crony capitalist grab fest in which concern for building for the future gave way to 'let's loot as much as we can- and let the future figure out how to fix it.'
Another element to this: Pence will look like another Romney when debating Hillary's pick (Rendell or the homo mongrel Cory Booker.) Pence will hem and haw, back peddle, and just look like a generic cucked old white guy politico. BAD CHOICE
tl;dr An attempt to appease Cruz voters. But it's a bad move and I would not in the least be surprised to find Trump impeached and convicted within 18 months (if not just assassinated.) I'm still voting for Trump.
