I'm sure that plenty would disagree with me in part, but I've met more than a few folks on here besides myself with both nationalistic and libertarian leanings.
Myself, I feel that public authoritarian punishment (work camp, public corporeal punishment, public hanging) is extremely important and should be administered liberally to all violations of the non-aggression principle. Assault/Battery/Petty Theft would garner a nice public flogging or a sentence of 6 months-1 year forced labor on public works projects.
All heinous violations such as violent rape, murder, grand larceny, grand fraud, etc would result in public hanging.
All actions not violating the non-aggression principle would not be punished at all.
However, I would consider myself a much more staunch ally, and much closer to those under the banner of nationalism, rather than libertarianism. The preservation of a completely autonomous nation-state with intact and controlled borders is far more important to me than the implementation of my ideal form of legislated morality.

As 4chan grew more popular, more people began to post here hence the shift to right happen.
It is the demographical shift, 4chan was left dominated up until 07-08. Later on left both became regressive through sjw activism and also began to have more popular platforms on reddit-tumblr etc, esspecially reddit. As internet became less anonymous right wing had no place to go and shout fuck niggers without repercussions, hence they began to flock here. I see a similar pattern in turkish posters, up until 08-10 it was mostly the secular upper class elite who dominated the internet, as time passed on lower class religious erdoğan posters began to dominate the web. Turkish Twitter is a prime example.
So yeah thats about it, I wish I had time to do nsa info gathering surveys, I assume that mos people here only post since 2-3 years, i.e. they are new arrivals, most do come from middle to lower-middle class backgrounds, who are in armed forces-LE or in other blue collar trade jobs. If you compare todays demographic of /pol/ to 2005 demographic of say /a/ you will see a major difference.
Grew up? yeah for some, but for most, its just new users with new ideologies.
