I got that 2500 to replace my old 94 1500 that actually got stolen with 370,000 miles on it. It was perfect timing though becuse I got the 2500 used with decent mileage right when fuel prices were insanely high. The dealer had been sitting on it for months because nobody wanted to buy a truck that weighs 6000 pounds+ empty that summer. Now has 160k on it, and has never let me down. I've been rear ended in traffic twice and since the truck sits pretty high, cars tend to impale themselves on my drop hitch. Here's the shape it was in when I bought it.

My 2500 gets beat on pretty hard at work, I use it for plowing every winter, and with the big tires and stuff it's loud and not super ideal for long distance highway stuff. The new one is for the multi day road trips with the non super heavy trailers. All of my chevys have lasted forever though so with the two I have now I don't know if ill ever need another one.

I prefer economy cars over trucks but i do own a truck. Mostly for utility, not driving. Trucks are meant to be used, not driven to mcdonalds on sunday. Pretty much every truck after 1992 is shit.
Only exception is a chevy with a good vortec in it. 80's trucks are the best. Like a ford with a inline v6 like the ford 300.

It's actually been Fucking with my head with how good on gas it is. Ill drive the thing for 3 days, and go to put 20 in the tank and end up having to go back in the gas station and get change when it only takes 12-15 worth and it's full. On the highway especially it cruises in 4 cylinder mode and gets incredible mileage. My friend has a little honda ridgeline with a 3.5 liter 6 cylinder, and the new silverado gets massively better mileage than that even.

You can get a lot of those on government auction (deuce in general) but finding one in good condition is hard. Also not sure about parts. Usually low mileage and hours but they still manage to rag them out. Something major is always broke in the drivetrain.

Well I looked at the VIN on mine and it's from flint Michigan if that makes you feel any better. I agree to an extent about the American jobs part of it. All I was trying to say is that the build quality of the vehicle itself isn't any different because it's still the same manufacturing process, with the same machines, overseen by the same people with the same quality standards. GM Is just such a huge multinational corporation these days it makes sense for them to have some stuff built outside of the country. They already have tons of plants building loads of different vehicles in the US, it's not like they moved all manufacturing of everything overseas or something.
