That's why I stopped watching TNG and watched the original series. Kirk was alpha as fuck, would take control of every situation with a mixture of calculated risk and balls of steel. The men acted like men and the women were competent but hot and showed off their bodies. The first few seasons are the Bajorans bitching about how the Federation came to liberate them from the Cardassians but in reality they've lost their autonomy as a planet. They bartered with the lesser of two evils.

The Siege of AR-51 showed that deprived of their creature comforts the average citizen of the Federation was just an animal, like Reese, who collected ketracel-white tubes on a chain around his neck and stabbed Jems to death like it was his birthday. The good people met in the episode all died to a man, and for what? For a rock that was only in contest because the Federation government was too fucking retarded to field a real military, and was essentially relying on glorified lab aides to fight its wars for it. The sheer delusion of Federation High Command killed billions of people.
By the end of that series there was no question that there are some race who literally CANNOT integrate into the civilized world. The Jem'Hadar were monsters beyond the ability to assimilate. The Breen were too untrustworthy to ever really cooperate with anyone. The Founders could never be trusted not to backstab the humans and, frankly, vice-versa.
The only thing the series was missing was a giant sign with RODDENBERRY WAS A FAG superimposed over the credits of the last episode.

All thought-out the show every member of the Federation is extremely limited in the resources they are allowed. Scarcity is everywhere, and the struggle against other aliens for resource rights is everywhere. I think that with the advent of space travel in ST it took a society where everyone could have everything they ever wanted and flipped it on its head. Earth shrunk down in size and became poor. So Tribalism was again a valid form of government. Star Trek portrayed what humanity could be capable of while also showing humans will always face problems that can never be fully solved. Also, most of humanity had been wiped out due to eugenics war and WWIII.
It kind of goes against the current liberal mindset seeing that only smart and capable people were running things. No one was there due to muh diversity or whatever current fad. People had to choice to determine their own destiny and the show had instances where humans left earth and started their own societies free of federation intervention.
