The short answer I got was if they commit crime they're arrested and because I did not want to lose my friend I did not point out all of the factual data suggesting the opposite. Instead I argued that if you bring people in, they commit crime, and then you deport them, why continue importing them because they do damage. The conversation went from there to profiling and abortion and turkey andthen it REALLY went off the rails, but I think the tl;dr of this is, why is germany trying to take over europe again?

Germany wasn't trying to take over europe, Germany simply has a huge element of war guilt following WWI and WWII. The UK was the main driving force to create the european union in the 1970s, a time when people still felt the aftershock of WWII, Germany was interested in redeeming itself in the european view.
What happened to Germany is like what the US did to Japan's laws, except amplified tenfold. Its amazing how 2 wars can continue to destroy a country 80 years after the fact.
Unfortunately there is no immediate event that could spur an American invasion into Europe to destroy the EU, because USA is NATO and all of the EU essentially sucks USA's cock.
I think it is likely that the EU will form an Army (read: authoritarian police force) in a short time span, unfortunately the only thing that could cure countries such as France, Sweden, Germany is
1. The collapse of the EU following the departure of the UK and other countries
2. WW3 with the main aggressor being Russia/China because no other country poses a threat to Europe. The middle east is too fucked up and the only remaining powers only care about making money
3. Domestic terrorism, bombings, mass killings of government officials, an actual uprising is the only way Germany could fix itself from the inside.
