"Old Labour" isn't returning. That's a meme too.

Corbyn is too far left to be "Old Labour" in the true sense of the term (<1979), he's more of a 1980s far-leftist who's time has come.

That said, he's still preferable to the Blairites who are absolute scum.

>On course to win in 1994 with John Smith (a man everyone seems to want to forget. Maybe for being an electable unionist Scot?)
>Suddenly Smith dies of a heart attack (Scot.)
>Blair takes over along with Mandelson after cutting a deal with Brown.
>Begins """modernizing""" the party even though the Tories are more split than Tom Watson's trousers and Labour are going to win anyway. For "modernizing" read "moving right"
>Continues moving right even after winning in 1997 and 2001 and 2005, especially 2005 as authoritarianism seeps in.
>This farce pushes away Scotland, who vote SNP in 2007, and destroys turnout in working class areas.
>Blairites pretend this is all fine because "Blair won elections"

I would honestly give anything to live in a world where John Smith at least survived to win 1997.

Edited Plan to fix Britain:

>REMAIN a monarchy
>STILL name ourselves the UK
>BUT, along with a Prime Minister and a Queen, have a Lord Protector who takes over all of the traditional monarchs powers
>10 year terms
>Will appoint the Governments of each countries at will, decide Election Dates but have relatively less power elsewhere
>MMP system
>Large House of Commons, 10 MPs per million population (650 right now)
>Small House of Lords, 1 per million population (65 right now)
>HoL will have much more power than right now, can stand against the HoC
>Will be mostly elected, but will reserve positions for some very prominent people
>Keep peerages, but remove any Hereditary appointments
>They will serve as special advisers to the Houses
>Implement a written constitution, containing all of the generic stuff
>100% Parliamentary Democracy, absolutely NO plebiscite trash like referenda, and we cannot give up our sovereignty to intranational bodies like the EU
>National and Regional Governments and Parliaments for the entire nation and each constituent country
>No regional Party allowed in the National governments
>And no National Party allowed in the Regional governments
>Make secession illegal
>To strengthen ties between the nation, spread the separation of powers
>National Parliament (legislature) in London, England
>National Government (executive) in Edinburgh, Scotland
>National Courts (Judiciary) in Cardiff, Wales
>Place a focus on retaining British cultural heritage
>Important Church of England
>Small migration
>Nationalise only natural monopolies like railways and mines
>Economy of wellfare capitalism, so we don't go full socialism but our people don't die from hospital debt

it is widely believed that jeremy corbyn will win another leadership contest, since he still has the support of the party membership.

the MPs who are challenging him were hedging their bets on corbyn not automatically having a place on the ballot. if that was the case, he would have needed to be nominated again by enough MPs, which is unlikely.

now that he will be on the ballot, he will probably remain leader. this could potentially cause a split in the labour party. either way, the party is basically a walking corpse at this point, divided massively between its leadership, MPs, members and the rest of the country.

But if you want the German Queen, who's married to a Dane, who's son is a (literal) cuck, who's wife's son is married to a Jew and who's children are therefore Jewlings then you should do pursue that privately, and not through a once noble institution.

Reminder that Jeremy Corbyn's communist takeover of the Labour party isn't a meme. It's literally what is happening.

Jeremy Corbyn and Tony Benn were members of the Campaign for Labour Party Democracy, which campaigned for changes in the constitution of the Labour party for mandatory deselection and reselection of members of parliament by the Labour constituency parties. This, in practice, would force MPs to adhere to the hard left politics of the party. The campaign failed, and Tony Benn and Jeremy Corbyn were left to history -- until now. Since coming into the leadership Jeremy Corbyn has made no plans of implementing this policy -- HOWEVER because of the review of constituency boundaries for 2018, all Labour MPs will need to be formally reselected by their local parties anyway.

The absolute mad man has actually done it. He's enacted the most sedate revolutionary takeover of a party imaginable. He's done nothing, and it's just magically happened. The Blairites are going to have to undergo reselection, and with the current sentiment in the party, the fuckers are out. No wonder they're so desperate to oust Jeremy.

Old Labour is what kept them out of office for so long and allowed Maggie Thatch to go mental on da Norf.

It was the Blairites that saved Labour. Albeit they did do it by lying through their teeth, pretending to be nationalists and then flooding the country with immigrants the first chance they got.

That being said, nobody trusts the Blairites anymore either. So Labour might just be fucked either way.

Labour were on course to win in 1994 when John Smith was leader. He's been whitewashed from history because he doesn't fit the narrative that Tony Blair saved Labour.

Blair won because Tories didn't vote Tory, not because he actually turned them into Labourites.

By moving the party right when he didn't have to, he gave it's ideological base a bloody nose. They stopped voting, or started voting SNP and later UKIP. They killed the party.

Maggie's biggest problem was buying the Service Sector meme.

She should've made like Norway and used oil revenues (which were upping the value of the pound and making exports uncompetitive.) to pick a few industries to modernize and cut out the rest. Instead she thought the free market would basically fix things itself. It didn't.

But for the Falklands, one has to wonder where we'd be now.

>> Instead she thought the free market would basically fix things itself. It didn't.

This is why I cannot trust fiscal liberalism. Conservatives should not believe in free market fairytales

It doesn't force the members of parliament to represent the voters. It forces them to represent their parties. The bulk of Labour voters aren't members of the Labour party, and in fact, it's one of the reasons for such a division between MPs and the party. The MPs have to do and say all kinds of shit the party don't approve of to get the votes of non-party members. This policy essentially makes a party unelectable because they become dogmatic.

Please please please let the whips have resigned

The memes would be insane

Well, Kinnock did a lot of the hard work too. Even Michael Foot doesn't get enough credit (The 1983 manifesto essentially being a purge of bad policies instead of done entirely in earnest. Foot prevented the party splitting more than it already had - those from the SDP had already decided to fuck off when Dennis Healey was still a credible candidate for leader. Many of the SDP-ers actually voted for Foot to give themselves a head-start.)

Though I don't really mind overlooking Kinnock's contribution too much since he became Baron Hypocrite of Bedwellty.)

She should renationalise the railways desu, even tory voters favour that

She'll nationalise the contents of your hard drive, but that's about it.

Rare Blair: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8lhtknnuSU

Blair was also on Question Time in 1985, but I can't track down any footage of it.

Was just going to post this, this is when the EU tried to form a military force, probably one of the first signs of their future aims.

>No, Kinnock did that.
I disagree. Tony Blair brought a fresh new look to Politics at the time and I know Tories that voted for him as John Major and co. were very boring and uninspired.

They were doing themselves a favour. They kept us out only so they could finalise CAP system.

When George marries some Indian or Paki, which seems suitable as his grandmother and probably his grandfather (whoever that might be) will you be ready to get on your hands and knees in worship to them and their offspring too? They'd have English blood, after all.

So we end up settling for endless centrists all wanting to go in the same direction with minor differences between them. If all the MPs were held to account by their parties we might actually have strong right/left dynamics.

Probably the single worst result in Celtic's (arguably the best Scottish side) entire history on an already bad day for their fans*. Lincoln Red Imps are the 4th worst club in the UEFA rankings, with only 2 San Marino and 1 other Gibraltan side worse than them.

*Celtic is supported primarily by Catholics who like to forget the 12th of July as it's when the Battle of the Boyne is commemorated.
