>Become a welder he said

>Became a welder I did
>Was hard finding a job at first it was
>Got a job TIG welding stainless steel I did
>3000$ a month starting it is

Not bad Rowe, not bad.

---------Hey guys, I started this thread earlier this morning but I had to go to work--so I will answer some questions as to how I got the job---

I researched and went to the best welding school in the country--got gov' student loans--and studied my ass off to get 90% in most of my classes.

When time came to apply for the job, I included my transcript in the email attachments.

This has gotten me two jobs.

Hope this helps.

No, they can't. If it was possible to do it more cheaply and better, that is what the companies would use. Businesses will not intentionally use a more costly and poorer quality method of manufacturing. Are you actually retarded, or just pretending to be for attention? Ever hear of the industrial revolution? Cost accounting? Anything like that? If a business can get something done better, and more cheaply, they will do so.

Try and connect with a UTC(E7), and ask them what path you should take.
OR, you could contact a head hunter(civilian recruiter), and ask them what is always in demand.
And yes, oil rig is good, but, it's not an easy life.
I talked to a guy about 20 years ago, when I was getting out, and he said it's 3 weeks on the rig, and 3 weeks off.
The rotation has prolly changed somewaht, but that'll give you an idea.

I was saying that as a context of "we need more workers". We certainly don't. Unless you dont give a shit about your job security. In the next 10-20 years a LOT of manual labor is gonna get automated and shit ton of workers will have to find new jobs.

The only safe place as far as low skilled labor go is to be in the service/hospitality industry. Welders, dock workers, truck drivers etc. arent safe jobs.
>>
>>80654787
You dont need to get into a bootcamp. Just learn coding, check out hackathons and interviewbits and contribute to open source.

You'll find a job in a year.

You can thank me later for saving your money. Dont fall for the coding bootcamp jews.

The good thing about a degree is that you are (or people believe you are) flexible. You proved that you have the ability to learn complex things in an abstract way.

You can shit ton of things with a business degree for example. You can work in sales, be a social media manager, be a business development manager, work for a startup as a growth hacker and 1000 other things.

The thing is, the knowledge requiring these are not something you actually learn at university. But they're supposed to teach you how you can learn things which you actually use, how to gather information and so on.

During the oil boom they would hire foreigners and pay them dirt, for example they would hire Croatian welders and pay them $14/h, which is what they pay at mcdonalds

All the good machinists are probably retired baby boomers, nobody was trained to replace them as our manufacturing industry is basically dead
>>

you still have big companies like Bombardier and all the small industries that supplies them.

Working management is one of the easiest things in the world just like HR and other stupid bureaucratic jobs like that. And like people have previously said not all weldjobs can be automated, the ones that can be automated have been for years now.

FACTS TIME.
36,000 annual income is slightly above the median annual income of a working american. That means that 50% of the population makes less than you and slightly less than 50 makes more.

36k is obviously not amazing, but its not terrible either. Its actually pretty average. Assuming OP follows the standard income trends for his trade he should make more money than the average college graduate until they have both been working for 10 years. Because of student dept he will have higher take-home pay for 14 total years. And will have a much higher take home in the first 5. HOWEVER, after 10 years the college graduate will surpass him in income and the gap between them will continue to grow until retirement age. On average a college graduate earns almost 1 million dollars more over the course of their working life. However. due to the delayed income pattern of college graduates Op has the opportunity to invest much earlier and that can easily make up the difference + more.

OP chose well.

Welding, or fucking lifting shit is "low skilled" because literally anyone can learn it. I could learn to weld in a couple of months, and work in a warehouse in a couple of weeks.

Now to be a doctor, chemist, or a manager or a chef you need special knowledge and experience which is not easy to get.

That's why they pay more in the first place.

Welding can be an awesome career.
I'll be certified master in less than a year myself, and I'll be able to fully retire before age 41.

1. I have no student loans to pay back
2. I have no blood-sucking women on my ass or kids
3. I invest in diversified stocks and other finances
4. I already OWN two vehicles and two homes
5. My boss fakes my drug tests because he DGAF as long as I don't come to work intoxicated
6. I make almost $100K/y(take-home $68,000+/-)

Now, if only we could stop the government parasite from stealing from my paycheck.

Most welders go into weld checking after a while. The reason welding is in such high demand is because there's a lot of robotic welding and they need people to patch shit up after it comes off the line. It's pretty comfy actually.

I'm going into the military to get spec pay and save for a house but my last job paid like 75k a year+40k in OT pay to weld checkers and off line welders. The only downside is you'll be working a lot of (paid) overtime so if you don't like that, it's not too fun
>>
>>80664164
Can't you burguers receive payment under the table ? or is it too risky ?
I'm currently receiveing 'under the table', and I keep all that hard earned money for myself instead of giving part of it for the government, however my employer and I could get in trouble if the government somehow found out about it (i.e someone snitched it), but they rarely investigate so I'm perfectly fine.

The difference in strength is huge, if you were to try and break a weld full of holes like that one the holes would "collapse" making it easier to bend, and a hole is a great place for a crack to start.
But then again what does a low skill welder like me know.

And this is just a few of the problems that a bad weld can have, being a good tradesman with a wide knowledge is up to you as an individual and many take the easy route and never learn the theoretical metallurgical aspect, and those are the ones that get a sucky job making the same part over and over until they are replaced by a machine.

First, you have to choose to be born to a Jewish pharma executive. Then you have to attend an expensive university, where you'll major in Economics. Then you join one of the training programs for a Wall Street firm, which will be happy to accept you, because your father is a Jewish pharma executive.

From there you put your nose to the grindstone and help rob institutional investors of value by creating baroque financial products, and unnecessary financial services.

Idk why people feel the need to go university so badly if they aren't for it. Especially after they take out a bunch of student loans. No shame in working after high school to save for school and figuring out a plan while you working case school doesn't work out well.

You can always save up a little bit of money and try out a vocational introduction course at a college. They expose you to all kinds of shit you wouldn't otherwise know you liked it for a dirt cheap price. I think 1 year course here is like 3k if you include materials and books.

Welding is great as a trade, but Maggie sure to specialize. Welding in a both in a fab shop all day might be easy and quick to lwarn, but it doesn't pay as much as the guys who specialize in certain environs or metals. For example, I'm an ironworker and because we're welding overhead, hanging off of beams and columns, and we work with stainless steel a lot, we generally earn a little more.

Look there is nothing wrong with a proud blue collar job, its not for everyone though just like working in a office isn't for everyone.

Pro to blue collar work:
>hourly so potential for good money
>almost always in demand if you have some skill
>easy to get into
>low cost to entry/low barrier to entry ( starting always niche stuff harder to enter in any occupation )

Cons:
>benefits are all over the place depending on union or not
>no paid time off
>work usually in the elements ( not always )
>cap to wage, depending on overtime, travel, ect
>Body issues as you age from hard physical work

Wouldnt say useless, I'd say they're equally easy to learn as most low skilled jobs.

But being a manager and being a manager at a particular company you familiarized yourself with are two different things.

I often hear from people who're at the bottom of the food chain that "x earns $ something? All he does is talk on the phone and write emails while I bust my ass off all day".

What they dont understand is that x had to get the job for a reason in the first place, probably established good connections with clients and other stakeholders who eventually pay for your job, and generally know the process well and keep everything in order.

The bigger the company the harder to know the process and keep everything in order. And thats something not everyone can learn or even able to do.

I've seen my fair share of loudmouth people who got promoted only to fuck everything up as managers.

I also met my fair share of manual workers who eventually got promoted and they had the advantage of knowing the mindset of the regular joes while having the brains to actually run a company.

Some people are actually irreparably ugly or mentally fucked, they typically end up as NEETS shitposting on 4chan or just kill themselves.
