Fought in every war America has, in fact. My father's father's father's (etc etc) ancestor came off one of the first boats in Mass. On my father's mother's side they have a history going back to some of the first French in Canada. My mother's side is fresh off the boat compared to my father's side.
I can trace my paternal lineage back to 1500s England, but the only "fighting each other" was done by people who had stayed in England fighting some who had went to Ireland.
My mom's father's heritage is the big question mark, since our family isn't in contact with him anymore, and hasn't been for a very long time.

Part of the American side is German.
My Cuban side is a little questionable. Itr's hard to trace when the Government doesn't release records.
All I know is that most of the Cuban side originated in the canary islands. And that they were spanish/french
