>>
>>80523747
well then fucking apply for more and make a move on your own part to show them you want the job.

the only reason they're saying you're "too educated" is because you have a degree and they're afraid you're going to jump ship the moment you get a better job offer. you need to ease their concerns and make them aware you're in it to win it, until you do that you're going to encounter that response a lot.

and hell if that's not possible, strike the degree from your resume.

>work experience

the "work experience" line is a crock of shit used to restrict the amount of worthless self-loathing faggots that try to get jobs. if you're going to cut yourself off from an opportunity as soon as you see "3 years work experience required", you'll never find a job.

the same holds for degrees with the notable exception of licenses that require degrees (for example being a doctor is more or less impossible unless you've gone to med school, while you can easily do business without even finishing high school). if a job says "bachelors required and 4 years work experience required", you can read that as "know what you're doing and be aware we don't want to spend that much time training you, so come prepared".

do you really think ANYONE believes you need a year's worth of experience washing dishes to get a job? no, they're putting that down to get rid of people like you, who instantly stop attempting something as soon as they encounter the slightest difficulty.

>>80524562
a warehouse doesn't need six months of experience, it needs the knowledge of how to lift and a few weeks to get your bearings. as above, it's a tactic.

>>80525205
it's way more likely that they don't want to spend time training you m8, if you can show that you know what you're doing and you won't need babysitting for 4 months you'll be right.

I can't get a single call for a minimum wage job. I just need something to start out with. I apply in-person whenever possible and then stop by a few days later to check in on my application. The managers always say, "We'll look at your application and call you back." They never do.

No criminal record, have stellar grades, have many hours available, willing to work holidays and weekends, have had job training in the past (service sector), I have diverse references, I live near the job location, I only ask for minimum wage, I dress nice. But I am not wanted.

do you know what health care bills look like when you dont have health insurance in america?
lucky for me, im a combat veteran and the veteran affairs gives free health care to jobless veterans.
but the moment i start earning a check, i dont get free health care from the VA anymore.
in america, employers rarely give anyone other than full time employees health care.

tldr: if i get a small minimal wage job with no health care, i die from cancer.

>thinking work experience is anything like knowing how to do your job
If you're not a bloody idiot you should be able to do any job at minimum wage with little to no training within a week. Anything more advanced (especially if it's the type of job that people in their mid 20s work) you should already have the knowledge and capability in the field to get your shit together within 2 weeks.

It's not everyone's job to help you (unless you're also voting for bernie sanders). If you want something, it's your responsibility to learn enough to do it.

Thinking that you need a year's experience in an office to do office work is like believing you need to complete BUD/S just to take a swim. Expecting someone to babysit you for 4 months is retarded and you should be unemployed for believing that.

>>80527178
Sucks that you're suffering from cancer m8, and I honestly can't help you there. Is there any way you could potentially do some under-the-table work (that might sound shifty but the VA is a pile of shit that only barely just works) to get a bit more money coming in?

>mfw im literally in charge of these russians doing basic grunt work
>me a fucking vegetable who winged high school and college

Last month I went to work (left my house) 8 times, most of those to just deliver something to the construction site or to take pictures of a fuckup some russian did.

I'm getting payed hourly every day at the rate of 7.2 euro/h and they want to give me a raise because I have organized all the paperwork for my boss so well and the people at the office can finally access it (my boss basically never uses his computer and a massive amount of legal paperwork stuff / other shit was missing from the cloud drive the other bosses at the office use).

My highschool homeroom teacher told me "You will have a lot of trouble in life if you continue to be as lazy as you are right now" when she handed me my shit grades filled diploma.

She fucking lied.
>>
>>80528631
It's a combination of several factors. First and foremost, no one told me to do any sort of internship. My boomer parents thought that staying a male virgin until Christian marriage was the most important goal in college, and literally only emphasized that. I was also socially withdrawn and didn't "hang out" in my spare time, so I really didn't talk with students outside of the lab. Also, I'm the eldest sibling, so I'm the one who is telling my younger siblings to get fucking internships and network.

Still though, I did summer research and am published, so it could have been worse. I'm really glad I took those semesters of Japanese; it will turn out to be the most useful thing I learned there.

Not 200k a year, but the average salary for a software engineer is 120-160K AED or 40K euros, UNTAXED.

Add housing and car allowances on top.

The average salary for a programmer here in Italy is 20-35K euros BEFORE the government jews 50% of it out of your pockets.

The arab states offer US-level income without all the massive ballbusting of trying to acquire a visa.

Thanks. 50k is pretty minimum, entry level type salary, but once they froze wages I was like, fuck this (I'm not entry level). Probably shouldn't have but it worked out at the end of the day.

Also I don't have a degree and I have a fairly extensive criminal background, so I'm not going to complain. Little bit at a time.

I have an interview on Monday and Tuesday. Both for customer service jobs. I'm debating whether I should get the comfy job on Monday that only lasts a year, or the erratic airport job on Tuesday that I know people will yell at me constantly for.

>apply for computer recycling job
>fit requirements perfectly
>HR sends me a canned response with a link to a timed 8 minute "aptitude test"
>no calculator allowed, whatever how hard could it be
>questions like "a clock lost 1 minute 32 seconds over a month, how much time did it lose every day" and other similar insanity
>some questions are piss easy, wing it until the time ends
>get an email saying "we won't be pursuing your application sorry LOL"

HR culture is what kills the job market more than anything. Refused an interview just for fucking up questions on an aptitude test that have nothing to do with the job in question.

Some fat cunt sitting at her computer going through applications sending copy-pasted emails with links to a quiz is the reason I don't have that job. They are STILL looking for people a month later.

I'm 18 years old, got a job interview at a grocery store tomorrow, pretty sure I'll get it. I start EMT school in mid-August, then when I finish that the company that runs the school will likely hire me. I'll work there for a couple years, get /fit/, then become a firefighter after I've volunteered a year.

Also, the job market is complete trash. The only reason I am likely to get the grocery store gig is because my mom works there. You literally have to have a network to get some shitty minimum wageslave job now.
>>

division homie, learn it. And most of those emails probably came from an automated system, you didn't even make it far enough to have a real person look at your application.

fresh out of university with 1 internship, I had the big disadvantage of not being from Toronto where all the work is. Despite this had about 25-30 different interviews (this includes follow ups) plus more informal meetings last month alone.

The offer I'm taking is 25/hr + very good benefits including minimum 3 weeks vacation starting in their lowest level role. They have another role ready for me in 6 months apparently.

I know I could be making a bit more but my industry is cozy AF and if this is what I can get with no leverage I'm pretty excited about how things will be after 2-3 years experience. Our workforce is one of the highest-aged in the country so there's an incredible amount of headhunting/sniping.

used to be when companies put out a job ad they needed the labor, and soon. they meant to hire someone and they'd pick the best of the applicants they could get in a month or so.

nowadays they don't do that. They keep a lot of positions open with no intention of filling them. They don't need labor very badly. They'll hire if someone really above average shows up, but if he doesn't, they'll just leave their line in the water until bigger fish bite. The test was just an excuse because they can't say "we aren't actually hiring"

I can confirm this. If it's a NEED rather than a kind of complacent posting, the internal people and anyone their recruiters have a specific eye on get first shot, before it's even posted online.

part of the reason I got so many interviews was I knew this, so I got a lot of personal referrals and networking done so that I was on the inside track. I'd say over 80% of the jobs I got to the final interview stage with were ones where they asked me to apply, or I was referred to them without a specific position in mind, etc.
>>
>>80534714

They obviously have high standards for themselves if they think they need an unrelated aptitude quiz on top of their relatively lax job requirements.

Should be an easy thing, apply interview and done. It doesn't even pay that much. It's not like I have no previous experience.
>>
The truth is, after seven years of education I am anxious about applying. I have never had a job until now, and the internship-type stuff is all done. I have the qualifications and the experience. Still, taking that next step is not the same. The money is running out and with it, my time.

CS is the liberal arts of the computer world. You get a bit of everything, but not enough of anything to really be useful with it.

If you really want to write good lines, what you're really looking for is a proper Software Engineering degree.
>>
>>80535831
It's ok, but this may be distorted by the fact the people saying it are probably macro bio people.

Micro bio has better prospects that macro, and bioinformatics has better prospects than both. Biomed engineers also work in the bioinformatics space.

At the end of the day a lot of this is still R&D level though, which generally means less opportunity esp in our semi-permanent recession.

If you want a good chance at a decent job, R&D isn't probably the top field. Also in bio R&D there are a ton of type A daddy's girl womyn who will be treated with preference to you and also generally have no life.

Any black pollacks itt? How do you get a job that doesn't pay bullshit $10-$12 wage? My last job I managed to get only by lying that I had 2 years experience thanks to my families business (that no longer exists but can be still easily be found on google) while they were asking for 1 year medical office experience. I was thinking of maybe making a spoof website for my family business, put a fake number that leads to my moms phone and then she can act as my supervisor. Then I can crank the 2 years to 5 years experience.

But no matter how much I lie, they like me over the phone but when I go in person they're like "oh shit he's black we can't back out now" and the interview lasts 5 mins.

Maybe but I'm short and autistic. Eventually every one of my coworkers realizes I'm shy and not upbeat and then I can't put on the act. The interviewer can detect this very quickly.

>father works as an EE for over 35 years now, currently an E13 Test Engineer, at the same corporation, moving around to different groups when the need arises
>helps get me in as a temp test operator (i.e. "the bottom" but still starting out at like $10/hr without a degree) in my early 20's. Got my foot in the door, basically.
>live at home, go back to college for my associates degree, do good work and every one loves me there, work for multiple groups as a test operator and build a reputation in the company
>get my AS in engineering from one of the best engineering CC's in MA, no debt, over $20k in savings now in my mid 20's, move up to being a technician without even having to interview. my new boss just talks to my old bosses, finds out how awesome i am, and hires me. that's how far your reputation gets you in life.
>plan on working this cushy af job (i'm talking test times that last upwards of an hour, where you just push the start button and wait for an hour surfing the web on your phone, listening to music and shitposting on /pol/ while getting paid nearly twice what I started at) for another 5-7 years while I try to do music professionally on the side. if it works, great, i'll quit my day job. if it doesn't, at least i tried and have all of that life experience while i was still young enough to try, and can take my savings and get my MSEE and move even further up the ladder with all of my work experience i've gained over the years.

PROTIP: look into temp work, in your field if you can. Makes it waaay easier to get your foot in the door, at which point you just work hard and show you're not a piece of shit and you'll eventually get hired as a permanent employee after 1-2 years, making money and networking and getting work experience for your resume all the way.

Temp work and Community Colleges are the way to go these days, in all honesty. Work your way up from the bottom, stay debt free, PROVE YOURSELF.

What am I supposed to write in the introductory section of my CV? The examples on the internet include statements like 'HIGH ENERGY INDIVIDUAL', 'Hands-on leader' and 'Talented and driven'. These phrases all seem somewhat corny, so I instead used a succinct account of myself without many adjectives for my CV. But I've been a NEET for a rather long time, so something is evidently wrong with my methods.
