I wouldn't exactly say the internet makes the world smaller.
It makes the world more accessible. I couldn't even imagine what traveling to a foreign country or even foreign city was like in the day before the internet. Scheduling all the tickets, transportation, and hotels must have been a nightmare. Traveling is a lot easier now than the pre-internet days, which although makes the overall world smaller, it makes MY world experience bigger.
