What's /pol/'s take on unions? What have they done for the working man in your country? Do you see them as necessary in the future?
>>
>>80488234
dont like organisations having influence on government period
>>
Unions were important when workers were treated as literal wage slaves, after about 1930 they became redundant and instead became a Socialist pressure group that could bring entire governments to their knees

They need to be banned
>>
They destroy companies and cities. Union members are literally the dumbest people I've met (yes worse than nignogs).

They turn into petulant 3 year olds when they don't get their way.

If you want a good laugh go on some of the union member forums and read endless posts of 50 year old men turning into little whiny bitches of the most petty shit you can imagine.
>>
>>80488678
You've never done an honest days work in your life I bet
>>
In theory I think it's right that labour should be able to band together to protect their interests, in practice they were a large cause of Britain's stagnation post-WW2, and are today the cause of the US' failing school system.

I think a system of co-operation, instead of confrontation, a la a fascist-esque corporatism would be much preferable.

Unions also produce Labour politicians in Britain, and are responsible for supporting that party, and numerous other left-wing organisations like Unite Against Fascism.
>>
>>80488234
Monopolistic cesspools of violence and corruption.

Unions wouldn't be a problem if government didn't enable their monopolization of work. Multiple unions out to be able to compete against one another for a given job.

They absolutely did not do anything before-- all the improvements in a worker's life would have been had due to improvements in technology and productivity capacity, absent the union. We're so productive these days, we don't even need our kids to work to put food on the table. But that wasn't the case 100 years ago.
>>
>>80488678
kek, i lurk on my firm's union forums (UAW) all the time
>>
My father hated unions. He died before I could ask him why.
>>
unions used to be cool. now they're a monster. teacher and police unions are an absolute metastasized cancer. teachers can't be fired, and rank and pay is based on time worked, not job performance. FUCK YOU UNIONS.

i dated a girl who said her previous boyfriend cut her car tires after they brokeup. he was a union rep.
all the people i know that are in unions are heavily social/communist. full of gibmesdats. none of them are globalists or understand the value of exporting jobs to lift 2billion people out of poverty in the last two decades.

all that being said. my family is heavy union and i was raised very comfy.

I have a lot of right wing ideals but unions don't seem like such a bad thing after what I've been through.

>Be me
>Live in Arizona
>Aka "Right to work state"
>Get job as a banquet set up worker for a local resort
>Bust my ass moving tables and chairs around all day
>Pay is somewhat fair though so whatever
>3 months in and notice that the employer is kind of taking advantage of the other employees
>I dont give a fudk though because it's not happening to me
>4 months in and notice that the employer is trying to take advatage of me now
>I don't budge as easy as the others but still end up getting fucked
>5 months in and we are told that we will be working some huge ass Quinceanera
>Work starts at 11am and goes all the way till 3am the next day
>They tell me that they want me to come back in at 10am the same day
>By the time I get back home,eat,wash clothes,ect. its already 5am
>Consider if I'm going to let them cuck me this much
>Nope
>Call front desk and have them transfer me to my department
>Nobody is there so leave them a message telling them to fuck off
>Later on get told none of this would have happened if I were in a union

Initially good and now far beyond bloated.

Example:
>WA state has a 3 strike rule for union truck drivers
>For DUI's
>>
Jimmy Hoffa was a degenerate he killed rfk
>>
I have only worked one non-union job here and I'd rather go back to not being in a union. Unions tend to push/bully companies into joining the union and then proceed to bully employers. Where I live they just passed a law saying that unions MUST do an anonymous vote to decide if employees should join a union because otherwise everyone is pressured into joining it. Thank u tories
>>
Keep working for LESS. You will then understand what unions stand for. Your racing to the bottom With no one to stand by you. Good luck nonunion keep giving it all to a few people. You will learn.
>>
>>80492939
Should've sucked it up
unless it counts as agriculture work you would have gotten a ton of over time and made bank

If big business should be allowed to operate unhindered, people should be allowed associate unhindered.

I work for my union, elected 2 years ago.

With the decreasing jobs on the market we have seen how much the union is needed
>>
A system like the one Adenauer established seems good.
A really free market but with strong unions to regulate relations betweeen the worker and the employer
>>
All the edgy retards on here that have never worked a day in their life will say they are bad and circle jerk over Margaret Thatcher. As usual.
>>
unions are good for the shit tier -> average worker

they suck for the top performers
>>
i'm union, the union is obnoxious. it functions like a mini state. bureaucratically similar

>role is to protect the workers
>the workers are protected so it sits idle
>just kidding, instead of sitting idle it has to invent new shit in order to justify itself
>keeps shifting around vacation time over time retirement benefits etc etc

all i see is office worker salaries that detract from my wages. i dont give a flying fuck about all the dumb shit they do. i wish they would go away
>>
>>80488234
They've made it impossible for me to work more than 60 hours a week or 7 days a week. They have cheated me out of mandatory pension money.

FUCK the unions. Created by and for lazy, irresponsible socialists. I'd like to be able to invest my own money for pensions and to work as goddamn much as I like. Filthy control freaks.

Our competitors are unionized and in order to keep people from quitting and going over there my employer had to pay us more :(

Fucking commies.
>>
Unionfag here. Yes the members are cry baby bitches. In my plant job are awarded on "seniority."
There are bypasses for that, though. To qualify my job, you have to pass a company examination. It prevents the 30 year forklift driver from becoming a skilled tradesmen without having previous knowledge.

My previous job I worked for a contractor that provided labor for companies that were short of employees on strike. The replacement workforce broke a log of production records. So I laugh when the workers at my current job say "We could walk out and this plant couldn't function."
>>
I'm in a strong union.
In work for a large company that always tries to pressure us into doing more shitb we sent supposed to do and also bully us verbally.

I'm glad my union protects me. I go to the meetings often. My union is the only reason I had Saturday night off last night otherwise I'd be working a 100 hour shift. Our company treats us as nothing but a number and a warm body, not as a human.
>>
i've never heard a pro-union commie defend globalization or cheer about 2 billion people being lifted out of povery in the last two decades

pro-union people are very selfish yet they hide it by talking about "free healthcare"

i'm a nurse and i don't work free.
>>
Swell idea as long as they hold no state power.
>>
>>80506234
Lol, as others here have said, I bet all you people talkkng shit have never worked a hard day in your life. My job didn't consist of just waiting tables. I had to move around 30 200lb tables each individually, set up those tables with accessories, set up a massive dance floor, stage lights, concert stage, and a whole bunch of other bullshit. Then I had to serve a bunch of rowdy drunk ass mexicans for 7 hours straight and then I had to break all that shit down and store it away. I bet your lazy fat neckbeard ass couldn't do a quarter of that. And besides, if you werent in such an autistic fenzy you would see that having to work 16 hours wasn't the reason I quit. It was working an extemely physically demanding job that long and then expected to get 4 hours of sleep and come back in prime shape and work 8 more hours. I think it's best you stay out of this conversation and go back to being a lazy neet while lecturing others in "hard work".

Wow.
Go carry 40kg bags of concrete mix up 15 flights of stairs pls, its only a couple hundred bags each day.
And its only the whole week from 8 am to 8 pm.
>>
I don't know why pol is so anti union. You guys all must literally be NEETS or work at Burger King.
>>
>>80509387
its exactly union mentality though

>i have to LIFT over my head THOUSANDS of 2 ton tables and set them up for 16 hour shifts EVERY DAY and if my table setting rate drops below 40/minute then i get WHIPPED by the master, all the while being heckled by DISGUSTING mexicans throwing bricks disguised as burritos at me
he'll fit right in
>>
I work in a non-unionized grocery store. Management has occasionally handed out letters from corporate saying things like
>Union reps have been harassing our people, following them to bus stops and shit
but I have yet to have any personal encounters with them. Our break room is covered in laughable anti-union propaganda.
Only evidence I've encountered that they actually exist is this time they threw leaflets all over the store, snobbish bullshit trying to tell me my worth. I can't stand this "minimum wage plebs deserve $15/hr" shit, I know I'm an expendable entry-level pleb. I'm a janitor, so I needed to sweep up any leaflets I found, of course.
The union endorsed Clinton, so even if a very charismatic rep spoke to me, there's not much chance I would support them.
I do have a question for you faggots, though. How does a store "unionize"? I know there's some shit about union authorization cards on an individual basis, but I guess a store doesn't actually get unionized until we hold a secret ballot vote on the matter that locks down the majority?

i read your post and it's cool that your union is doing what unions should be doing; protecting the workers. my company is relatively small and the management is very friendly and accommodating so the typical union role doesnt apply to us, yet somehow we still have to pay for it. they dont do anything either but shuffle around benefits for no reason

The only time the Masons union did something was when they wanted to raise the minimum wage here. Its at 12€/h~ or so now. That was several years ago and i haven't heard anything about them since.
And murricans want mcdonalds rejects to have 15$/h kek.
>>
>>80509387
Once again missing the point and only hearing what you want to hear. I guess I really do have to spell it out for you. It's my fault though I guess, I made the mistake of assuming some of you were smart.

The tables were the easy part. Do you know how big the stages are you have to set up for a massive ballroom and how big those dance floors are? 40kg a couple hundred times a day? That's not shit compared to that. And then on top of it having to put it all away. Nice try though.
>>
>>80510012
thats cool

we had a meeting last year where we were urged to come in and vote because the senior guys were freaking out that the union wanted to take their paid vacation time and give some of it to the guys with less seniority. they kept trying to tell me how this impacts me, both sides trying to justify it

Because, like I said, you and your commie friends are forcing me to work less than I would like to. You lobbied laws into existence that force me to pay 20% of my income into a mandatory state pension (and thats besides taxes). Government state pensions that are incredibly poorly managed (i do a better job investing stocks than they do) and you end up getting shorted at the end of it.

Its this fucking socialist mindset, mollycoddling people for their own good, because clearly people are too retarded to make decisions themselves. No. Fuck off. I dont want to conform to the standards of workshy socialists. You fuckers made it law that a 40 hour work week is the maximum. And by god, that just isnt good enough.

Work for Verizon Wireless, non union. Verizon Landline goes on strike for a couple months due to no contract. They lose 2 months of pay and medical benefits due to not working and striking. MFW they negotiated for a lower raise than wireless gets every year, has to pay union dues every paycheck, and gets no other benefits.

There is no need for a union in Verizon landline at all, because the company takes care of their employees. The black community in the north east US decided to opt into the union.

Black people decided to screw themselves over with a union and to lose a ton of money.

Successful unions rely solely on a respectable and educated working class. When you are being fucked over, you know about it and you are angry. American unions are all bastardized and only exist to serve ulterior motives, anything post 1919 is a kike sham. The British unions of the late 19th/early 20th century were legitimate as the working class had pride in being working class, honor, respect and dignity. There's no honour among theives and anything Jew led is likely to be involved in some kind of theivery.

Unions are good when they have middle of the road power. Too much power and you get unions like the teachers union. Not enough and you have the cwa who takes dues, but then "negotiates" for a ten cent raise for doing work that used to belong to another job title.

if a company is shitty enough it the workers go out of their way to unionize and choose to pay dues every month, its not just a worker problem but a management issue too
