So it turns out that the rifle used by the Dallas shooter wasn't an AR like everyone presumed. Instead, it was a 70 year old, military surplus SKS.
Watch in the coming week gun grabbers rallying around the call to stop ALL sales of military surplus weapons and ammo.

70 years later and the SKS still going strong.

And there's literally nothing libshits can do about this, the SKS is fucking ancient, it's a simple semi-auto, it's even legal in Canada for fucks sake. Any attempts to use this massacre to ban guns is gonna fall flat unless liberals propose banning all semi-autos which would be full-blown madness and would never pass.

The target won't be semi auto weapons, it will be military surplus.

"The quantity, ease, and cheapness of these deadly weapons flooding our streets, with the deaths of these Officers only highlights the need to ban ALL military surplus weapons, and ammo to prevent tragedies like this from happening again." The shit just writes itself.

Remember the chaos in the market with the "green tip" fiasco? Imagine what an Obamo EO will do. Dealers with inventories of either that they won't be able to sell will take a huge financial hit and probably close. Panic buying and supply issues with domestic ammo will drive up prices dramatically. This is a liberal's wet dream.

/k/ here. Russian is widely considered to be way up there in quality. I would avoid Chinese as they are widely fluctuating in quality since a huge number of them were made commercially by norinco for the western market. BUT. My favorite, and many agree with me, is a yugo. Only difference between a yugo and a Russian is that yugo lacks a chromed barrel and in most cases(59/66) has a grenade launcher attachment and an associated gas plug. Lack of chromed barrel and gas plug is only important if you shoot corrosive ammo but today that is a non issue. Yugo sks were mostly unissued and I got one brand spanking new with a perfect stock and I wouldn't part with it for anything. It's a gorgeous well made all milled rifle. A testament to times passed since no one puts this much work into a rifle anymore. So, empirically and subjectively, I would determine that the yugo sks is the one to get now but while threads were made about your very question and the jury is still out there

>>
>>80377933
AR reliability problems are the same as AK ... second rate builders using out of spec parts [metals of wrong hardness, poorly fitting, etc]
>>
>>80377508
The SKS is a military rifle. It is a semi-automatic rifle that holds 10 rounds and can accept an adapter to hold 30 round magazines. It's chambered in 7.62x39, the same round as the AK. It is both more reliable and more accurate than the AK47.
>>
>>80373564
The media has a current obsession with AR15 or their latest buzz word- AR variant like it's somehow more deadly than a common dime a dozen Chinese or Russian SKS
>>
>>80376327
Soviet post 1952, 52 and back were not chrome-lined. Soviet's are for the most part in better shape than the chinese ones.

Yugo's are not chrome-lined, pretty sure that the chinese ones are.

Not worth it anymore though, Yugo's are like $400, Soviets are $500+ now.

t. /k/
>>
I had an Russian SKS once. It was accurate, but still an outdated anti aircraft design. AKM is much more productive. SKS magazines are gay.
>>
>>80373564
SKS is like the ultimate nigger weapon now that I think about it.
>>
>>80377986
You hear wrong. AR reliability issues are complete FUD originating from the original issue of ARs in Viet Nam where cleaning kits were not available, and the wrong spec ammo was used. (Guns got dirty fast with no way to properly clean)

The modern AR with todays ammo is a completely reliable and accurate weapon.
>>
>>80378129

>>
>>80374458

>>
>>80377818

>>
>>80376311

>>
>>80377986
if by reliability you mean it needs to be cleaned periodically to function flawlessly, then what you have heard is correct.
>>
>>80378111
Exactly, just workmanship errors. It's like saying that not all cars are reliable because there are shitty cars.

>>80377986
Properly built AR15s (not made shit metal or fitted incorrectly) are as reliable as any AK or SKS. Here's a good read on AR15s if you want to learn a little bit. You should get interested in firearms and start shooting.

unless hes rolling around in a muddy swamp with a rifle that hasnt been cleaned in 5,000 rounds, he'll be just fine with an AR.

the claims of reliability issues usually date back to Vietnam when first generation rifles were poorly introduced without cleaning kits and used shitty ammo. a modern AR-15 bought at a store today has very little in common with the old M16A1s.

>>
The "ban military weapons!" argument that libtards are currently using doesn't concern just modern weapons such as the AR15 and AK, they'll proceed to ban EVERYTHING that has ever been using by a military at one point in history, ie : all firearms ever made.

First it's the AR15 "muh scary semi-auto full automatic .30 caliber 30 rounds clip ghost gun assault rifle with the should thing that goes up"
Then it will be the SKS and M1 garand.
Then it will be the M1917 and M1903
Then it will be rolling block rifles
Then it will be muskets

Top tier would be real Russians, but good luck finding one.
Next would be pre-Sino-Russo split Chinese (56 and earlier). Back then they were being made in China by Russian technicians and supervisors. After the split, quality went way down.
Yugo, if you don't mind the extra weight, or are willing to remove the Yugo junk. Yugoslavia always had a hard-on for rifle grenades. Everything they made had sights and adapters for them, which added a lot of weight to the front of the SKS. But they were all good quality, chrome lined bores.

Whatever you do, stay away from the Albanian ones. They are usually expensive because they are rare, and the build quality on them is horseshit.

They literally claimed he suicided right after they blew him up, and they ONLY retracted it because we found a periscope which caught them blowing him up on camera.

This pattern of furious and frequent amendments to the police's statements has already been demonstrated in the instance of one particular fact to be an outright attempt to cover up the fact that they were lying about the shooter's behavior and the events of the shooting in general.

When we caught the police in lies during the dorner happening the media was forced to reconcile with it because journalists were calling them out based on uncovered deceptions like this.

It's actually more of an "assault rifle" than a civilian AR-15 considering it is a literal military surplus rifle and not a civilian variant.

The fact of the matter is "assault rifle" makes no fucking sense as any sort of descriptive term for any weapon. A trapdoor Springfield is also an "assault rifle" if military use is a condition, and you'd have to be completely retarded to compare it to something like an SKS or AR-15.

But none of this matters, facts don't matter to liberals, what matters is "muh feels" and whatever can be used to gain political influence, if that means banning all rifles ever issued to any military every, including muskets, then they will do it.

Its disturbing how efficient they have become at suppressing even the public's interest in knowing the precise factual details of a massive cataclysmic act of political violence like this. In 48 hours people are totally indifferent to what precisely happened, or who precisely this man was, and what precisely his words were, and what exactly were the reasons for initial reports to have differed from the 'final story'.

People are contented to internalize the whole scenario as a vague truth that can be altered to suit changing political context, with the gravity of 'certain belief' being predicated on nothing other than 'there was deliberate violence'.

Hey faggots who don't know what an assault weapon is:

>>
>>80381951
That was a borrowed AR, and the BATF had to manipulate the rifle/ammo to duplicate it. Then they charged the owner with possession of a full auto weapon.

What, so you can have a shdow projection of your barrel covering up anything at the 12 o'clock? That is the absolute worst position possible for a light, and mounts at the 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock do nothing to obscure the sight picture.

Muskets can be rifles.

A rifle pretty much considered to be anything with a stock that fires a single projectile and has curvature/twist rate in the barrel (rifling)

Early muskets were smoothbore but that began to change when people realized how stabilized bullets fired from a rifled barrel were/production process became easier.

Sounds loke something that criminal organization would do

Ruby ridge was all over an ATF plant telling Randy that he wanted to buy a shotgun from him and "to cut the barrel right here" pointing a 1/4 of an inch under the legal limit without a tax stamp.
When he refused to take a plea deal and become an informant they ended up killing no murdering his pregnant wife and son.

Oh and since the Supreme Court has ruled that registration of firearms regarding felons is a violation of 5th amendment rights the NFA only exist to restrict the law abiding which is absolutely disgusting

Prices have been way up on SKS and much like mosins they are quickly becoming bad buys simply because there are better rifles for not much more money (you can buy a rack grade AK or AR for 150 more bucks now) regarding the and the mosin is almost as much as a new production 308 with a Mauser action(which is superior in everyway to the mosin action) and already drilled and tapped for a scope

This is retarded. There is nothing to make the SKS more mechanically reliable, and the accuracy benefits it gets from the short-stroke piston are minute.
>>

They will probably call them handcannons.

Imagine someone doing a shooting with an Obrez.

This and other parts of the narrative will change, leak, and be misused by the press and politicians as the week goes on.

I'm just waiting for someone to blame the officers for their own deaths because of reason X or Y.

Hang on, the BBC said there were 4 shooters. And that the fourth had killed himself or something like that.

It also has an internal magazine with a max 10rd capacity. The SKS, with bayonet lug removed, would be legal under every single proposed gun ban. And in fact was legal under the AWB.
>>
>>80383333
Only problems being the only range newr me that allows steel cased ammo is 2 hours away and litteraly no one makes brass 545.
That and 545 uppers are rare and spare mags unicorns.

PSA needs to take their KS47 and make a KS74.

Considering it acts as a dust cover alongside being a saftey it is well designed and needs to be tight on the rifle to function in both roles properly. If your safety doesn't leave a scratch it isnt in spec.
>>
>>80383937
For the sake of accuracy though, it should be pointed out that an SKS can be converted to use larger magazines.

Not debating it's functionality, just it's aesthetics.

assault rifle is a rifled weapon that has select fire capability that includes firing more than 1 round per trigger action.

In the video the gun clearly has a 30 rounder so it's a SKS-D or converted SKS.

WHAT IN FUCK IS DONE TO THIS POOR RIFLE? STUPID HICK AMERICAN WITH TEN GALLON HAT AND GIANT PICKUP TRUCK LOOKS AT PERFECTLY FINE SIMONOV KARBIN AND SAYS "NO, RIFLE NEED MORE DUMB SHIT ON IT"?

WHAT IS REASON FOR PISTOL GRIP? IF YOU NEED TO FIRE FROM HIP IN EMERGENCY, NOW HAND IS TWISTED INTO PAINFUL ANGLE AND YOU MISS EVERY ENEMY! LOOK AT WRONG ANGLE OF BAYONET! LOOK AT CHEAP PLASTIC MAGAZINE THAT FEEDS CARTRIDGE LIKE CONSTANTLY JAMMING PEZ CANDY BOX! WHERE DID CLEANING STICK GO?

I HEAR OF 922 LAW IN AMERICA. ADDING PISTOL GRIP TO WEAPON MEANS YOU CHANGE OTHER PARTS. WHAT ELSE YOU FUCK? YOU PUT NEW BOLT EDIFICE? HOW ABOUT BAD FIT RECEIVER COVER FOR CHEAP SCOPE TO SHOW OFF AT HICK PARTY AND NEVER HIT LARGEST SIDE OF BARN?

SURE, IS ONLY YUGOSLAV COPY TYPE BUT IS STILL PROUD DESIGN OF SERGEI SIMONOV. THIS IS LIKE SENDING HIM BIRTHDAY CARD WITH SEVERED OFF THUMB OF DAUGHTER IN ENVELOPE. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY SERGEI! I PISS ON ALL YOU CREATE!" LARGE MOUND FORMS OVER SIMONOV'S GRAVE BY CONSTANT TUMBLING OF HIS ANGRY CORPSE. IS FAULT OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU.

RIFLE WAS FINE BEFORE YOU FUCK IT. NOW IS TRASH. MAYBE YOU CHECK IN GARAGE AND ORIGINAL BOLT EDIFICE AND WOOD ARE STILL THERE. MAYBE IS NOT TOO LATE TO KEEP RIFLE SOMETHING NOT SHAMEFUL TO TAKE TO FIRING RANGE. TAKE SHIT OF GOAT AWAY AND COULD STILL BE GOOD WEAPON.
