The alloys are all the fucking same. They get them from one of 3 foundries, already forged. For the faggot billet lowers, the machine shops buy 6061 or 7075 aluminum, which are both ASM standard alloys. The milling operations required to complete a lower do not put sufficient stress that any "fractures" or "distress" will occur. Enjoy the redpill.

M193, being a relatively high velocity round, has been known to defeat SOME STEEL ONLY armor SOMETIMES. It definitely is not in any way truly armor penetrating.

M193 reliably fragments as long as the velocity stays north of 2800fps. Use a 20" barrel and it's not a problem inside of 125 yards. You need 3200+ fps to defeat steel plates, a 16" carbine has problems reliably achieving this velocity, but a 18-20" barrel can do it easily.
And yes M855 has a 10gr mild steel "penetrator" under the jacket inside the nose. For the average person to understand, steel tipped is the easiest way to explain it.

Fragmentation is not the same as expansion, fragmentation is not necessarily desirable, it's a fortune coincidence of the manufacture of standard mil ammo. A projectile designed from the ground up to be high performance would not fragment in that manner, since it is highly unreliable.

It MIGHT fragment is a better way to describe it, because even with the correct velocity there is no guarantee is will, that's why it is unreliable, unlike actual engineered expanding ammunition.

If it claims to meet mil-spec, you're good. My most of my lowers are Aero Precision, who actually makes the PSA lowers as well as those of many other companies.

I actually don't disagree, melonite might actually be better for barrel life than chrome (I would love some actual materials science data to back this up, though. Mag dump 5k rounds through a chrome and melonite barrel, clean ever 250 rounds; and get back to me).
That said a chrome barrel will shoot better than most people here, and they still call for chrome lined bores in the DoD AR spec.
