Firstly, science makes no claims on the nature of literature. That's the role of literary scholars and critics and is why they are separate fields of knowledge. Using science to analyze literature is like using dentistry to fix a car. Secondly, the allegorical nature of certain parts of the Bible has been part of Catholic Doctrine for thousands of years.
