Literally everyone I know, myself included has been told to respect elders, authorities, and just everyone in general. Fucking schools around here taught us this in grades 1 and 2.

I obeyed the officer's commands and explained that my nervous behavior was because I had never been pulled over before. I had to step out of the vehicle and was patted down. I obeyed all commands and was friendly. I talked to the officer with respect. At the end of the ordeal, I was allowed to leave. No ticket, no warning, nothing. I behaved as I was supposed to, developed a rapport with the officer, and didn't have shit happen to me.
Maybe one day more people will understand that the vast majority of police are decent people who are just doing their fucking job and aren't out to kill you for a traffic violation, risking their own future and freedom in the process.

Police are trained specifically on how to manipulate the flight or fight response. They're trained in making people incriminate themselves.
Especially in more serious encounters than traffic stops. A common tactic is to first send in the asshole mean cop, to feel out a suspect and see whether he's timid or amped up.
