Over the past two years or so, everytime theres been even the slightest rain storm or wind gust that barely reaches 10 mph, there are power outages that last HOURS. These are just normal storms with the typical rain and occasional thunder. Honestly that's what it's like for me and most I know. The presidency doesn't effect us, you're probably more emotionally attached to him/her than some people here.
I think the accessibility of some Old World cities like Amsterdam with good walkability and public transit are the best lifestyle and city plazas and centres where people mingle, but the lifestyle and wealth here is built around comfort, for better or worse in north America. That's why they get so fat.
There's not much overcrowding and land is cheap so you can get a big garden. Everything is convenient with drive-through everything, air conditioning everywhere and whatnot

The rest of the continent is made up by countries who still are in the colonialist era. A closed elite that becomes richer every day (and who doesn't consider itself a national, despite their public discourse) and a poor class that becomes poorer by the day. The gap between said groups grows more and more by the day and that also helps the miscegenation of the lower class, becoming a formless mass and it's controlled by several drugs (by which I mean not only drugs but also TV, porn, surveillance, illusion of a democracy that doesn't actually works, political division, etc).
Back in the day several of the countries in the Americas weren't like that at least explicitly. Now it's going pan-american. If this makes it a third world country, then yes, it is. If not, it's a first world country with heavy characteristics of a third world one.

I'm fit so whatever that tu quoque doesn't really work. I actually have high standards for fitness and don't settle for North American bodily mediocrity. The US has a higher rate but both countries are grossly fat compared to Europe. I'm being hard on Canada ITT because out of Ireland, US and Canada, it was the most mediocre and shitty experience. Culturally it's 100% 'murrican with all the stereotypes. North Americans really are chubby couch potatoes who dress like shit and drive your SUVs to fast food stations, when I visit Milan it's shocking to see almost everyone is slim. "Cold Alabama" is how I would describe it, the lack of innovative tech centres and intellectual jobs meant almost everyone was a drooling menial medeocre yankee couch potato who aspired for 40k income at the local moose fur mill. Then I come to the states and I'm around triple-diploma people competing for javascript and advanced marketing jobs. Canada is made up of the same "soulless" grid cities and suburban sprawl the USA is but I remember the houses are often made of the same shitty drywall material, but smaller. So many small lots with 3 metre-wide brown grass "yards" in the back filled with junk. South of the border the houses are the same type but seem bigger for the same price. I think I'll stick with apartments though.
There are a lot of vocally dumb yanks though, especially the religious right in the flyover parts, but the most intelligent parts of North America are clearly San Fransisco, Boston, DC and Manhattan. As much as old Europe warms my heart I'm staying here for the wealth, pampering and entrepreneurship
