Bolsheviks were nihilists, they knew very well that their goal is to cause inconceiveable suffering and destruction, but they were just sick, desperate people. Of course they tried to delude themselves that they were trying to improve the world, but in reality they were mainly driven by nihilism. If you want to "repair" the world "only" after slaughtering the old one, then you must be very aware of the fact that you have bad intentions. This is the Left's modus operandi.
