But yes with free market comes inequality, and with inequality relative poverty rises, but not real poverty.
The decline of "productivity" was because aggressive anti-inflationary policies, forcing bad companies to stop production (liquidating bad investments) but it lasted like 3 or 5 years,and was totally necessary (this is why it was a bad idea to hold elections just after the pronunciamiento). then Chile became the richest country of South America.
