Look at the Tet offensive. North Vietnam and Vietcong attacked like 15+ cities when defence was low. The response to it led to the death of 5 times the amount of their forces vs ours. We could've won the shit if we dragged it on for 15 more years.

Vietnam could have ended by mid 1960's if we just pushed into the north but we were too afraid of a Korean repeat. We'd have guerrilla attacks occurring here and there for a few years after but unifying the country would have basically been the end of the north.
