We've known that for days you fucking schmuck. The question is whether Malcolm Turnbull will get dragged out by his heels or not and whether Labor of the L/NP will be the government.

L/NP doesn't want to be held hostage to the Greens, but Labor might be prepared to.

all about bargaining australian politics
>>
The current political mess in Australia, and the damage its doing to the economy is a real concern.

Looks exactly like what we had in New Zealand in 1973, and again in 1990. We've only just gotten out of that mess, only after losing 10% of our population.

In fact over here we are shaking our heads at how badly you guys are shooting yourselves in the foot. You made $85 billion from resources between 2002-2010, with nothing to show for it yet are in massive debt and no major party has a plan to get out. Its like they just expected China to always prop up the Australian economy and never worked out a contingency just in case... We've worked through our massive crisis caused when Britain joined the EU and have diversified our economy and are finally in a good place. To the point now people flooding back in and we can't house them. You guys need to learn from our mistakes and pull your socks up real quick or you'll be fucked for decades. Just like we were.

My fear is whatever government is formed will collapse within a year and you will be doing this over again. Its like watching Bolivian or Italian politics. Never expected this of you Australia. Wishing you all the best.
>>

No, the rest of the world imported millions of rapists while we put them in island prisons, so we're the ones laughing now.

Odds are stacked in the coalitions favour, my guess is that they will hold 73 seats and the crossbenchers are mostly conservative so they could strike a deal.

It's impossible for Labor to win more seats than the coalition and Labor stupidly decided to pre-emptively deny doing any deals with independents. The Greens will only help Labor if they get their own seat in the cabinet which is not happening.

Labor really should not be smug about this election, they are getting invested for electoral fraud in some marginal seats which could mean a few bi-elections and them losing those seats to devastating swings away from them. I don't see why nobody is calling for Shorten to resign.

Tone is very loyal to the Liberal party, and that virtue was his greatest undoing. When he won the leadership, he should have absolutely fucked Malcolm and made it clear that he was not welcome at all. Instead, he made him communications minister and gave him a symbolic middle finger with the knights and dames bullshit.

Exactly. Fraser, Hawke, Keating, Howard 1975-2007. That's like fucking forever with only 4 changes at the top. And then go back to Menzies who led for what 17, 18 years?

Not to bang on about the Kiwi experience at our worst 1989-90, we went through 4 PMs in the space of 16 months.

Part of the reason we are on the improve is only 2 leaders since Helen Clarke got in in 1999. And that's not likely to change as John Key looks well on track to win a fourth term.

Again, interesting to watch. Over therebyouve done great things dealing with rapefugees, and I hope by the end of the week you'll have a government in place. I think the best you could hope for is Libs with Xenophon One Nation backing. But even that would not be stable. And thats not accounting for Turnbull who I'd expect to rolled before Christmas.

Because Turnbull won't resign whatever happens, they will have to drag him out on his heels.

The Tonemeister could bide his time in opposition letting Turnbull fuck up and then seize power again if and when an election is imminent.

Too many things could happen in opposition and its worthless if Tone is not both party leader and PM.

We need to do what the UK is proposing. Kick out people earning less than a certain amount to get rid of the low wagers who are very literally taking jobs from people, and then still allow in skilled workers on specific visas if and only if the government decides there is a shortage of workers in some area.

No. the NBN was never intended to be rolled out the way labor layed it out from the beginning. the Reason Labor started it was because they knew they'd lose the next election and they wanted to hot-potato it to Liberal to make it seem like Liberal cracking down on it was them being the bad guys.

The fuck are you even talking about. The NBN as a policy wasn't even announced until 2009, 2 years into the first term.
They then needed to create NBN co, negotiate contracts with Telstra and Optus, start a trial program and rollout plan and start hiring contractors to do the work. Contractors who then need to invest in the gear to perform the rollout.
By 2011 there were trucks busting out fibre around the inner suburbs of WA all over the place. It wasn't until the lead up to the 2013 election that everything ground to a halt. Liberals announcing their plans to change the rollout meant private contractors who invested significant capital into equipment to perform the works were hung out to dry. They had to start selling it, being unsure they would even have the work to recover the costs.
We experienced a shortage in skilled techs to do the hookups because, again, no one knew if they were going to have jobs.

Had the libs not shat all over the rollout only 2 years into the actual implementation, it would be busting along fine.

>Labor had 2 terms and did fuck all rollouts

a big part of it is infrastructure worldwide.

if netflix doesn't have a major hub in australia then the ISPs literally have to carry the signal there on the underwater cables. distance is a big deal. this is why, say, south korea, has the best internet in the world. no one is more than 100 miles from a massive server stack.

there's more to it than that but thats kinda simplified.
>>
>>79794438
Just the senate. I'm talking about preferences on the HTV cards. Most voters follow those and instead of preference Xenophon, Labor chose to run an open ticket.
