Its mostly because the UK was a (no pun) pole in the internal politics of the EU keeping the German-French axis in some sort of balance.
Basically if you aren't Germany/France (or in their camp, like Belgium), you're wondering who is going to stand up for security, free markets etc in the absence of Britain.
Although not quite as directly the Swedes and the Dutch along with the Eastern states have said similar things.
Its not so much they want the UK to stay as much as they fear being left alone with the French and the Germans.
