Unions are shitt when the people running the unions are shitt. You should negotiate in a way that increase the value of your production.
In my unions we have negotiated us to paid education to fitt the companies need of skills. Higher earning increase be learning the needed skills.
Focus on worker safety that protect the greatest asset a company have, human capital.
A well organized union is a asset to companies, and can live in a healthy symbiosis with workers and employers.
