I admired the shit out of Stephen King while I was growing up. After the coke ate away most of his talent and the accident seemed to take the rest of him, I plodded through a few more of his books and finally gave up.
Then he started getting good again. Really good. I think it started with From a Buick 8. Most of what I read after that (with the gnawing exception of Mr Mercedes) was good, and Revival is one of the best books I've ever read. I felt uneasy and fragile for days after finishing that book.
Now he turns into another fucking Twitter shrew. Really disappointing, especially after his dreaded Guns essay turned out to be even-handed and fair despite its entirely wrong position.
