Why does the left detest the 1950s? During that peroid, America saw black owned business, high wages, high taxes on the rich and free or low tuition for colleges. White American's opinions on blacks was changing and the future for race relations was bright. 2016 is a leftist nightmare compared to what we once had.

the left doesn't care as much about controlled market places as much as freedom in private life. economic redistribution is a necessary evil same as social conformity, the left is less tolerant of the latter just like the right is less tolerant of the former.
