The Muslims hated us. They were going to eventually unite on a common hatred for us. So we go there and destabilize the area and reignite tribal conflicts among themselves. Any time someone starts uniting like Libya or Syria we make sure they go back to infighting.
Why do you think we throw guns and money at one faction until they get too strong then do the same for the other one. Or when a strong leader our whole country starts uniting we put a few troops or drone missiles into them right when the others are ready to swoop in and restart the tribal muzzy on muzzy violence.
It's an old tactic as old as the Romans.

When you put it that way, I actually support all the war making if it's revealed it's just to keep the assholes from uniting into one faction. I've thought this since 9/11, if they all united into one faction or country they'd actually stand a good chance at getting things accomplished.
