National Socialism wasn't even that much of a socialist movement, despite its name. It was more capitalist than anything, and it encouraged small businesses to grow.
The party started off as a socialist party, but when Hitler got into power, they slowly changed to a more centred mix of capitalism and socialism. That's why it worked. The socialism part helped small businesses and people in actual need, not gibsmedats and "disabled" obese people. The capitalism provide a driving force for the economy, and helped decrease the unemployment rate.

Do I still refer you you as Yuropoors, Or will Britbrokes be better? All kidding aside for the average American the federal government is a distant impotent entity forever yelling at itself and accomplishing nothing. We still distrust any sort of government intervention and due to our country's xboxhueg amounts of inhabited area our countless laws go widely ignored. Outside of ghettos where police forces are actually concentrated the US government doesn't have near enough daily impact to be considered "oppressive." As far as freedom goes, what measurement are you going by? Americans enjoy the freedom to worship what they want, go where they want, defend themselves lethally if necessary, own anything they want short of people and have enough money to afford doing these things.
