I'm personally talking from experience as my father was an attorney who specialised in labour relations and he actively participated in the "Reconversión", so I've got plenty of ridiculous anecdotes from that disastrous project. The gov't literally had to bribe entire companies not to work on a per-employee basis. Of course, that also gave rise to some ludicrous corruption schemes, such as bosses declaring many more workers and facilities than they actually had, etc.
I wouldn't be surprised if EU accession was actually one of the biggest factors on creating our current crisis on the long run.

What I understood is: State A gives UE X millions per year, UE gives them back a part (to spend how UE decides) and make State A not paying trades fare in exchanges with other UE's states, saving more money than X. The problem is that UE wants to decides of international politic, industrial life, taxation,... almost everything of its states, disregarding sovereignity and popular decision.

Now that you've thrown out backbone the english government is in trouble as they'll struggle hard to land trade deals that they don't actually have the infrastructure to support or the leverage it needs + will have to hastily rewrite and adapt laws it previously could just adopt the EU standard.

News flash: most "EU standards" don't even originate in the EU. Look up UNECE. The EU is mostly a useless middleman that simply transcribes standards that are produced in higher instances. The UK could actually negotiate these standards better by having direct representation in these bodies rather than being represented by an anonymous EU Commissioner.
