In recent times however we have seen a huge drop in quality of discussion culture, to the point where "you mad!!!" with hollering and hooting from the mostly nog audience has become an accepted retort to pretty much anything. When one side is driving the niveau down that far, demonizing the other side to an extreme extent and sanctioning violence, persecution and murder trying to assume a position of higher morality and "being better" than that is going to make you lose.
You do not have the luxury to not resort to the same method and behaviour anymore. It's not discrediting your opposition because they have made it acceptable, thus by not resorting to the same tactics all you do is the equivalent of binding both of your hands behind your back in a boxing match.
Your oppositon is going to accuse you of acting in thse ways anyway and people are going to believe it. Thus you get the negative affiliation and attributes without any of the benefits no matter what you do. If you do not "deliver them proof" they will simply manufacture it, as seen in the past.
