I bought it around 2006 or 2007 for about $650. The barrel was worn from when i first got hold of it (its military surplus and most 7.62 NATO battle rifles don't have chrome lined barrels like their 5.56 counterparts do). Its a fun gun and I don't regret buying it but if I could do it all over again I would have saved the shekels for a brand new DSA FAL.

Because the highest caliber civvies can own here for personal defense is like .22 or .25 for pistols (short barrel) and .32 for revolvers, and the paperwork and effort involved is on par with buying a goddamn decommissioned MBT in the US. this is not controversial.
the .380 is not "a slightly shorter 9"
it operates at MUCH LOWER PRESSURES generating far less energy.
considering that the two rounds are physically identical except for the length, the 9mm is a better choice.
i own a .380, but would never carry it unless my 9mm is unavailable.
even my 75 year old mother doesnt shoot the .380, she prefers a .357
.380's are pocket pistols, better than No Gun, but hardly the best choice
a compact 9mm gives better performance in the same size package.
