Basically as Scotland's separation would have been undertaken mutually with consent of the British government, they considered it legitimate, unlike their own breakaway attempts. And assuming indyref2 gets the same approval, there would be no reason for Spain to veto Scotland. Even if Scotland go ahead with it against the will of Westminster, the fact that Britain is trying to drag them out of the EU, which Spain has not intention of doing itself, could make a big difference, but that's purely speculation.
