At the end of the day the (((people))) running these organizations are playing both sides and are most concerned with their bottom line.
With the decline of traditional platforms like TV, Newspaper, and Magazines they are expanding their business on the internet. Online media is all about clicks and controversy generates clicks.
The smartest business decision for them is to sensationalize everything and make controversy everywhere. They avoid attacking Clinton because they don't want to be seen as objective and they'll never usurp Fox News' viewers.
They best thing for them is to drum up controversy to engage their leftist followers. But if that market is collapsing they need to look out for independents too.
