meh i wouldnt follow social media to get a proper opinion on it, not with all the leftist fearmongering going on. brexit was a good idea, brits will have their own country back and this economic 'crisis" is only a spike. its already stabilized, its just a result of people getting paranoid. FInland has enough natural resources to be economically independent.. its not like finland ever gained anything from the EU,except for rapefugees
>>
>>78908033
Asked my grandma, she was shocked. She would also vote for Clinton too, though.
Asked my dad, he thought brits were going to stay at first, but wasn't that shocked after the vote. Kept saying it was stupid of them because of the scottish butthurt and the pound crashing.
Asked my mom, she only said it was odd how I knew this would happen a year ago already.

Asked my sister, she just didn't give a flying fuck. Asked my cousin who dates a brit, she was shocked and horrified.

So, mostly 50/50, as are the brits and many other countries all over europe.

Leftist butthurt. Media is on maximum shilling mode. My mom was pretty surprised as was my dad.

As for the petition, I signed it yesterday. But you're deluded if you think there's going to be a referendum. Anti-EU sentiment has been on the rise since '08 and now after the migrant crisis, the Finns' betrayal and budget cuts, the political atmosphere is pretty volatile. There's no way our current parliament would risk any sort of referendum.

The best chance we have is to wait for other countries to leave and maybe try to strike a deal with Sweden and Denmark and leave with them. Otherwise we're in it for the long haul until the eastern and southern shitholes crash the union with no survivors.

>>
>>78907369
You shouldn't have one until you feel you're ready. If a remain vote happens it'll fuck your chances of leaving for good. Cameron tried to stop it by having a referendum sooner than later, but that backfired because of strong Brexit leaders.
>>
>>78907369

Dear Finns, please can you call for Fixit as much as possible?

The more of a ruckus there is around Europe for leaving, the better it makes all of us. The EU will be forced into restricting freedom of movement to save their union.

If there is no ruckus, it makes it more likely the EU is going to shut us out and allow us no access to the single market without full freedom of movement (and then we're basically fucked)

So yeah, not just for us, but for you. Or if you hate us and want to see us burn then don't call for Fixit I guess. But please help us, we're pretty cool people actually.

>Ordinary citizens should understand that weakening the European union won't make the multinational corporations, the pressure of globalization and international problems go away.
It will certainly ease the burden, as the EU is currently one of their prime drivers.

>Even if Eu would weaken the international economic model is internationally organized. Only EU-like supranational union that's based on democratic decision-making can at least in in principle work as counterbalance against such powers.
Did the whole article come down to the same strawman of ''if it's not EU it's isolationism''. Not one eurosceptic party is against international trade or global economy. They're against the fact that the EU is becoming a totalitarian superstate, which all the federalists with their short term pragmatism don't seem to understand.

>Only EU-like supranational union that's based on democratic decision-making can at least in in principle work as counterbalance against such powers.
First of all, the EU clearly isn't based on democratic decision-making when the damn parliament even doesn't have the rights of a parliament. That's one of the main points why Leave won. Second, what's wrong with a Nordic union then? Or a European trade zone with no political structures like before of the Maastricht treaty.

>At the moment this can be seen well on how EU is negotiating privacy policies with US based mega corporations."
You mean like the TTIP they discussed in secret? The agreement that's hinted giving multinationals near legislative power? Wow, the EU sure is standing up for the little guy.

It's also ironic that the opinion piece bring up lying in its very title when the leader of the Remain campaign literally said leaving the union would trigger WW3. I sure hope the cronies in Finland won't embarrass themselves as badly as their British counterparts when this discussion inevitably starts in the future.

Not much. There are less probably but you'll always see a shitton of nogs in the city during the day when the good and honest people are working, studying or drinking in the solitude of their suicide cubes instead of hanging around in shop centers shoplifting or sitting around doing nothing. I swear to god that niggers and arabs smell different to normal people, in a horrible way that is.

>>78922117

I see muslims here as well in Joensuu but they're a marginal minority for now. I always get giddy when I have a chance to be an asshole to one or many, some time ago one of the new refugees (I think) tried to start smalltalk in a train and I stared into his eyes until he stopped talking. And another time in the bus I completely ignored a standing muslim by hoarding two seats with my backpack and then took off the backpack and moved towards the window when an elderly (Finnish) woman entered the bus and looked around for a seat. I hope that he noticed that.

I think we are ready to have a petition about it. That's all it is at the moment, a petition. The government has a bad habit of basically ignoring these petitions anyway, and I don't actually expect to get a referendum out of this. We already had one successful petition that proposed a referendum about leaving Eurozone, but I haven't heard any news on that in a while now; I understand they're not even seriously thinking of giving that referendum for us.
(To give some historical context: back when we joined EU, our politicians promised that voting yes for EU didn't mean voting yes for Euro, and that we'd get a separate referendum for that. But later they went back on their promise, they never asked our opinion about joining Euro after all. If we had known from the beginning that joining EU meant losing our money, I don't think they could've fooled us into voting yes.)

It's also noteworthy that this petition calls for a referendum to leave EU to be held in 2017. There's still a lot of months until then, and anything can happen during that time. And the people behind the petition chose the next year because Finland will celebrate its 100th independence day in 2017. The media and politicians are gonna have to do massive mental gymnastics; they can't just avoid participating in that kind of anniversary, but they still have to keep making up excuses about how wanting back our sovereignty is the wrong way to celebrate it.

TLDR; I don't think it's realistic to expect any concrete result from that petition, I simply want to send the following message: "you guys have fucked up really bad, we don't like you, and we think Brits did the right choice".

>>78916593
I'm aware of this; we can't win unless we all unite against Brussels. I've been sharing that petition around, hoping it'll pass and put a little more pressure on Brussels.

>>78922097
They got a massive refugee center during the migrant crisis. Remember the KKK man? That was in Lahti.
>>
>>78917896
>It will certainly ease the burden, as the EU is currently one of their prime drivers.
It's called the immigrant crisis for a reason, they will keep coming whether we like it or not or whether there's European union or not. Syria is a mess thanks to the drought that was likely caused by climate change and middle east is unstable as hell thanks to whatever oil wars have been waged there "against terrorism". European union was not prepared for such crisis and is trying it's best to mitigate the damage by spreading the burden across all member nations which isn't going well.

The harsh truth about this is that closing borders wont stop the refugees.

>>78917896
>They're against the fact that the EU is becoming a totalitarian superstate, which all the federalists with their short term pragmatism don't seem to understand.

European Union is not perfect and a lot of the criticism is very valid, but all that means it that it we should instead work to fix the union instead of destroying it completely. It has done a lot to protect our rights, health, environment but it has slowly swayed away from that through stupid bank bailouts and whatnot.

This is actually the one thing that I can't stand in modern politics, which is why I don't really trust politicians.

How are we supposed to have a working democracy when we don't know shit about whats going. Having proper transparency and knowing what the hell is actually going would make it a lot easier to see whose interests our politicians are actually working for.

EU bureaucracy is ran by two kinds of people. Neoliberals owned by bankers and leftist idealists that will push trough neoliberal agenda as useful idiots.

EU is all about making lobbying easier for multinational corporations.

The moment multiple European countries started adopting border control, the whole migrant crisis became much more manageable. Schengen is the reason why everything exploded. Get rid of Schengen, and we could get a better control of the situation. Also, no more migrant quotas; see picture. Why the fuck are we still taking these people even though we were one of the countries with the highest migrant burden per capita last year? Is any other fool still taking them or are we the only ones, are there any statistics on that? I heard at some point we were taking like 20% of all the relocated migrants inside EU and it just makes absolutely no sense.

All the countries last autumn kept waiting for some kind of decision to be made on EU level, but that never happened. Finally EU members were desperate enough that they were forced to make their own decisions: stricter immigration laws, building fences, starting border control, adopting daily migrant caps. And even though these actions demonstrably had an impact, EU bureaucrats had the gall to complain about them.

Imagine if EU had made the decision to adopt border control on the entire Schengen zone as an emergency measure the instant the migrant crisis got completely out of control. Or if EU never existed, all the countries would know that they were on their own and they should look after their own interests. Either way, we could've ended things much more swiftly. Point is that EU's existence was a factor that contributed to the migrant crisis blowing up.

Can also confirm. I met a nice, happy, well mannered and well dressed nigger in Mikkeli last weekend though, he smelled great - but it was only because he had used probably 1 liter of some kind of perfume, because the smell stayed with me for like 5 minutes after he had left the vicinity.

Actually Greece and Turkey are holding off a lot of refugees but how long?
Not to mention how Russia already showcased us on how they could just open the floodgates to illegal immigrants if we don't behave ourselves.

>It's called the immigrant crisis for a reason, they will keep coming whether we like it or not [...]
The EU didn't cause it bit it sure as shit didn't do a thing to mitigate it. Instead of encouraging its member states to take emergency measures well withing the boundaries of its treaties, it chose to turn the situation into a display of power by forcing the common asylum policy onto Eastern EU countries despite their rejection. Yet another example of the EU breaking it's own laws, treaties and customs in favor of centralizing power.

>The harsh truth about this is that closing borders wont stop the refugees.
I'm not in favor of closing the borders and agree that it's a waste of time and money. I'm in favor of restricting any welfare benefits only to the citizenry.

>European Union is not perfect and a lot of the criticism is very valid, but [...]
You are very unfamiliar with the nature of power if you think they're just going to give it away willingly. They've been pushing for federalization since '92, hell. probably from the beginning, and there's no sign of them stopping any time soon. They're calling for an EU army for christ's sake.

Stop addressing my points with the same idiot federalists blogposts. I'm not going to bother reading it if you're not going to bother writing it.

>This is actually the one thing that I can't stand in modern politics, which is why I don't really trust politicians.
So your logical response is to support a federalizing political union where a small click of unelected, unaccountable politicians hold the majority of the political power? If you don't trust politicians, why do you want more of them?

>How are we supposed to have a working democracy when we don't know shit about whats going. Having [...]
I'm sure taking political power further and further away from the people is the perfect road to more transparency and open politics.
