However, there is a lack of jobs and opportunity in places like West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky. It keeps out the migrants, but you have very little opportunity to move up in life unless you go to one of the bigger towns or head for another state. And of course, that makes it hard to raise a family because your kids will probably want to move somewhere else for college and a job.
