DB thinks the UK stock market will outpreform the EU countries if the pound stays weak. Didn't everyone want a kickass export economy? Because that's what you're gonna get.

Even in America, news channels say the fall in the pound is pure panic for no reason.

Keep calm Britbros, if getting ahead in life were easy, everyone would do it.....

Damn. Pretty nuts that the GBP really hasn't even approached pre-crisis levels. Really starting to think that this "recovery" is just the new normal but the financial media can't give up the story. How will we be able to ever really declare that everything is ok and finally the world markets are back to normal? IMO we'll have left this earth before that happens. The financial media will never give up the "slowest recovery ever" headline.

A weak currency does help exports. Being able to get more pounds for your dollars or euros means products being bought from the UK are effectively cheaper. This is a big part of why China keeps their currency artificially low.

I personally want the global economy to crash. Its been on life support for over a year now, its been flat for over a year. Investors don't want to invest their money when stocks are so flat and prices are already topping. Its time for a crash so new money can re-invest.

>>
I'm going to Germany next week. Will my spending power be noticeable greater than when I was there last summer and fall? I use my ATM card to withdraw euros because Schwab covers any ATM fees. Would recommend for travelers. But I mention that because exchange rates are supposedly more current when using an ATM.
>>
>>78818115
You want your currency to be a little cheap, because the people you do business with have to buy your product in your currency. So its advantageous if they can get a cheaper deal trading their currency for yours.

On the other hand, you dont want it to drop to Drachma like levels, because then you lose investors.

You're all retards. Forex markets never, ever close. Valuta is traded 24/7, 365 days a year.

Granted, the stock market is closed on the weekend and that is likely why the GBP hasnt shifted much, along with no relevant news coming out in the last few days. But the Forex market isnt actually closed.

Look, if you dont know what you are talking about either, just shut up. Forex =/= stocks.

Well, the global economy is tied to each other. Investors speculate against the dollar because they think the USA will do less business with the UK.
Makes no sense to think that in my opinion, but that is the reason.
Oh and also, everyone going short on everything caused a huge drop.
>>
>>78820715
>>78820948

Looks like for a short while in November it was lower, which is when I was there. But it was a brief window before heading back up. Maybe this week will send it tumbling back toward that area.

Why is it that whenever there's a significant drop in a financial market or currency they show graphs only covering say the past week and only showing a scale that makes it look 10x worse than it actually is.

It went from an average around $1.47 to around $1.37. Yeah that's a significant drop but hardly disastrous.

Besides that these things tend to bounce back at least a little bit within a few days to a few weeks. Why aren't you looking at these things in a long term perspective?

The Pound not yet, but the FTSE recovers with no problem, meaning the Pound will soon follow suit. Furthermore the Pound was artificially deflated just before the referendum, so well done misrepresenting the data.

It's your own fault for believing rhetoric if you feel deceived (and polls show very few leave voters actually do). Especially in this age where information is so easily accessible. I personally didn't base my decision on a single lie, because I bothered to research the issue independently.
