Its the opposite man, if govt substidized loans and grants for college didn't exist businesses would be forced to offer apprenticeships and paid training for their prospective workers.
A lot of this is caused by the dumbing down and feminization of public schools too, in the past teenagers were pushed into trades in high school If they lacked the capacity to be doctors or engineers but now the equality meme is pushed and every kid gets told they're good enough for a university.
I think higher education has become a racket, I'm not educated in economics but I think the student loan program is designed to either create wealth through debt or redistribute govt funds to the private sector covertly.
I'm going to trade school to be a diesel mechanic and it pains me to think that in previous years I would have either learned my trade in high school or gotten a paid apprenticeship from a shop.

Everyone has been told from birth to go to college from the public education system for the past two decades and since there is a huge supply of college educated people a degree is not worth as much, leaving millions of deluded kids stuck with a worthless degree, two wasted years and a pile of debt when a trade school in this environment is a guaranteed 50k a year + position where schooling for it only costs 10-20 grand.
