It's not the same type of banking. The swiss are used to hide money, and after it's hidden invest in x and y and get some profits. But even if there's no profits it's ok, just hiding is what's important (and they're now forced to tell to EU countries the identity of the foreigners in their banks). The City is a massive investment and money shuffling place. It also used the euros a lot, so not being inside the EU anymore hurts that activity.

The Swiss deal with the EU involves them accepting all EU regulations and free movement of EU citizens into their country.
They're basically in the EU for most purposes, but aren't actual members with a vote or citizenship, same as the Norwegians.
It's probably the deal we'll end up with to preserve The City which provides a huge portion of our GDP and needs access to the Common Market to survive.
Which will presumably upset some of the people that voted for Brexit thinking it'd actually limit our immigration or reduce the EU's influence over us.
