In uni I was surrounded by these types. Going into college I was hardcore left wing. Then Mattress girl happened, and I noticed this group of people with dyed hair marching outside carrying a mattress.

Then I installed Tinder, saw many people identifying as 'polyamorous' or 'genderqueer' and wondered what that was all about. Turns out the modern day left is all about destroying the institutions that got western civilization to the developmental point that it's at today. Shocking, right?
But what really got me is how unpleasant they are, how they act as though they're God's gift to humanity when they do fuck all. Truthfully, I started to hate them, and it became clear to me why historically people hated leftists: they are overly emotional, unstable children that have no business running civilization.

I looked into myself to see how I was treating everyone, and realized I was ignoring all of my problems and instead just getting angry for no reason.
Then I looked at who I was associating with (the law of attraction is fucking real gents, the 5 people you spend the most time with will show who you actually are) and realized they were all hypocritical leftists and socialists.
I dropped that outlook on society, everyone I used to see as a "friend" started to hate me because I strayed away from them. I then dropped my previous life, went to a new state, and set up there.

I used to believe there could come a day where nobody had to die, where there didn't have to be violence and inequality and people could be happy and not live the shitty existence they do now. The whole year has been politically turbulent for me now, but I can sum it all up as this.
1. Bernie Sanders Losing the primary because of the Corrupt DNC. From the start Sanders had no hope, and now he's given up and has sided with Hilary.
2. The Orlando Shootings. I'm a Bisexual, it was after hearing about the Shootings and learning about how Terror suspects on Terror Watch can still get a gun license and buy a gun that I truely felt like the left had betrayed me. The left would see me die, because it allows them to take sad sympathetic pictures of themselves and start hashtag movements to make them feel like they did something to help the family and loves ones of those 50 dead people, and because they would rather coddle Islam in his country and absolve it of what it inspired, and blame it on an easy to blame issue, than slam a hateful religion, and it's followers for going on twitter and praising this event. The modern left doesn't really truely care for LGBT. They just want us to be docile and quiet and ignore the muslim with the big shotgun about to kill more of us because they think we're disgusting.
3. Shillary herself. Honestly it doesn't need to be said anywhere why Hillary is just one of, the most untrustworthy people I have ever seen. At first Hillary and Trump were no differnet in my eyes. But Donald Trump is actually offering something to me. He's talking about policies, about what he would do, and how he would MAGA. All Hillary promises is a security vote against Trump, keeping this establishment going, being the first woman president, and that's it. She offers nothing to my future, she just tells me not to vote for Donald because it's popular to hate him.

I was a fucking leftie when I was younger because the only immigrants I'd ever actually encountered were Chinese or Ukrainian. They all seemed relatively normal and their views, while they weren't totally the same, weren't opposed to the established ones, and over time they would drift closer to us. So more immigrants didn't seem like that big a deal.
Then I ended up having to interact with the newer Muslim immigrants. Holy shit. Their views are radically different from ours, and won't change because they're backed and cemented by a fanatical religion. They hate us and want us dead, and aren't shy about saying it. Why the fuck are we letting them in?
It was a pretty shocking realization that made me reevaluate the rest of my views. I went from being nearly SJW-tier to center-right pretty quickly once I stopped just accepting what I'd been told in school about diversity and things like that.

But then it got to "White people should die, open borders and no immigration control, cutting your own dick off is a perfectly sane thing to do and makes you a hero". What. The old lefty values of "Tax the rich and use it to pay for public services to the poor" thing, which used to kind of be the keystone of everything they were doing, has gotten totally buried in bullshit Identity politics.
It was no one event, just years of running into dogmatism, being mailgned for who and what I am as a white male, and seeing the same bullshit I escaped from at church with the left. I don't know what you'd call me, just a skeptic who likes to make crass jokes I suppose.

Honestly though that's pretty much the whole reason. Plus I read more history and figured out that every socialist country just turned into a totalitarian hellhole. Definitely fell for the "it's not real socialism/communism" meme for a couple of years.
Specifically, reading about biological and testable differences between races was the biggest redpill for me. Another big one was the realization of how incredibly good life is now on earth, and especially in western countries.

The leftists (and my former self) got everything we wanted, but the progressive left decide to go into an ideological purification mode much like the red scare, where any dissent from a different position (even if it was a center-left or centrist position) was dismissed as unbridled bigotry.
If the left held all the ideas today, even the ones I consider bullshit, but allowed dissent and disagreement (I.E, actually gave a fuck about the first amendment), they would be many times more tolerable.
