I won't. You are right. But idiots in politics will fight to keep the system alive, so i say 15 years.

Automation hits.

>People lose jobs.
>Companies make tonnes of money.
>People run out of money.
>Companies have to chose between hiring people to work instead of machines, or paying a shitttone of tax (90%) to pay for a 'basic living wage'.
>Owners of companies realise they could just set their shit down, and not work and get the living wage, rather than run a fucking company for barely any profit.
>No companies paying for it, because companies shut down, people lose their 'living wage'.
>No one in government to fix things because "why the fuck work, when we got a 'living wage'?"
>Socalism crumbles.

It'd be better for companies to actually hire people in that case, because they'd have money to spend and less tax to pay. It'd give them a reason to keep working and producing and competing.

It's highly impracticable, and wold most likely fail.

Capitalism works, socialism and not working, does not.

yup, there are gonna be a a lot of dead serfs in the future

prostitution will be legalized and we'll become a sex based economy
>>
>>78612472
true. we already have millions and millions of people who spent their lives working factories only to be laid off. Now So many people are on public assistance because "dummy" jobs are gone.
>>
>>78612472

Yeah let's all feel the Bern based on this theoretical future outcome. When replicators are made we'll all be living in Star Trek so why not become communists now?
>>
>>78612472

We will probably have to cull 90% of the population.

Find a way to contribute something of value.

Until you have artificial intelligence humans will still be able to produce something of value.
>>
>>78615369
Why not just have the state own the means of production then?
>>
Let people create private coins/money and banks freely. So a group of non automated people can trade with each other and completely ignore whatever the automated group is doing.
>>
>>78612472
people have been saying this since the beginning of the industrial revolution, but "this time is different"
>>
Automation won't hit in ten years. Not like you think.
>>
>>78617030
AI is an abomination, it's creation must be suppressed at all cost.
>>
I mean there will still be jobs like maintenance and construction of the machines.
>>
Automation will save the west.
>But muh jobs
Our manufacturing jobs are in fucking Asia already.
Automation would make it worthwhile to build stuff here. And guess what? The factories aren't going to build, supervise, and maintain themselves, so here are your jobs.
>>
>>78619325
This argument is crap though
Industrialization was fine because in the past there were never enough people to do the labor that needed doing, confining most of us to the farms
In reality it's not some linear equation where a limitless number of jobs can be created at any level of automation
It's more like a parabola, and a theoretically high level of automation of all non-creative tasks could easily put millions of people on the street because it's impossible for everyone to turn a profit drawing pictures or publishing movies or whatever, we only have so much time to spend on such things and not everyone has the talent
Any oversight and repairmen the machines need will be dwarfed by the number of people they replace, as no company is going to replace 500 $8 workers for 500 $30 engineers(and eventually other machines will do this work too)

But it's not ten years off
It's 50 to 100+
The world's not advancing as fast as anyone thinks it is
>>
No fucking shit. It’ll move closer and closer towards a self-sustaining system which benefits fewer and fewer people. The rest of us will be using designated shitting streets. Enjoy the future gentlemen.
>>
>>78612472
It will, labor will just move to things robots cant do which there will still be LOADS of things.
>>
We need to create some sort of mind-farming type machines so unskilled labor can just clock in and wear a helmet for 8 hours, get paid a living wage, while their brain power is converted into like a spinning turbine or some shit.
>>
>>78620584
DUDE YEAH LMAO LETS JUST INVENT MORE JOBS BY PUTTING OUR HAND IN OUR ASS AND PULLING HARD HEHE XDDDDDD

Fucking retard.
>>
>>78615369
Companies will keep hiring people for non-positions

with the rise of automation comes the rise of middle management bureaucracy positions

Majority of the "jobs that are yet to be invented" are bullshit positions that don't add value that companies have to keep creating lest unemployment skyrockets and people stop buying their shit because money isn't flowing around the around

Qualification creep will only get worse, underemployment will only get worse and the psychological health of society will only get worse as more people start working in jobs where they don't have a real purpose.

there's the flaw in your argument

You can't run out of engineers in automation

I'm fine with the liberal arts tards and their stacys starving on the streets :)
>>
>>78621577
You won't be when they cause a Marxist revolution
>>
>>78612472
Declining birth rates actually help adjust to this problem. The REAL problem is what are we going to tell third world labor. India missed its golden opportunity to industrialize, for instance.

>>Owners of companies realise they could just set their shit down, and not work and get the living wage, rather than run a fucking company for barely any profit.

this is exactly where your logic stops working.

the CEO of the company is always going to make much, much more than the average worker.

you're telling me doug mcmillan would resign as CEO of Walmart because he could live for free off of a couple thousand dollars a month instead of a $2m + /yr salary? that is what he'd make as walmart CEO paying a 90% tax
>>
>>78612472
You're right but it will be longer than ten years.
>>
>>78620782
>le faggot liberal who doesnt want to do menial labor
d/w we will have you cleaning shit in no time.

so they're going to try to use pitchforks against my biological warfare? :))

sorry stacy you wasted your 7 years making yourself undesirable for my resources, time to starve :))
>>
>>78612472
Same thing was said during the industrial revolution, job types will change but Capitalism will always prevail.
>>
only libertardians care about free market capitalism

Limitless production is not possible on a finite world, even if fully automated.
Everyone I know that supports a basic income is a failure and a 5/10 looks wise.
