What Freedom did Britannic gain?

The ability to not accept reefoogees?
That's it?

After losing billions in a short span

After losing their credit rating

After ensuring there countries demise for generations to come

That doesn't sound like freedom

That sounds like despair

Britannic won't recover

They're manufacturering industry is non existent

They only have there financial sector to lean on to broker deals.

And now who wants to do business with a xenophobic country now that was too stupid to use hindsight to see how devastating this "freedom" was for them

Britain didn't gain freedom. They gained nothing and lost everything

>A Prime Minister resigned. The £ plummeted. The FTSE 100 lost significant ground. But then the £ rallied past February levels, and the FTSE closed on a weekly high: 2.4% up on last Friday, its best performance in 4 months. President Obama decided we wouldn't be at the 'back of the queue' after all and that our 'special relationship' was still strong. The French President confirmed the Le Touquet agreement would stay in place. The President of the European Commission stated Brexit negations would be 'orderly' and stressed the UK would continue to be a 'close partner' of the EU. A big bank denied reports it would shift 2,000 staff overseas. The CBI, vehemently anti-Brexit during the referendum campaign, stated British business was resilient and would adapt. Several countries outside the EU stated they wished to begin bi-lateral trade talks with the UK immediately. If this was the predicted apocalypse, well, it was a very British one. It was all over by teatime. Not a bad first day of freedom.

>No company has abandoned London yet, you retard
No shit, it has been less than 24 hours since the votes were counted. Shit needs to pass parliament first you fucking moron.

This isnt doom and gloom. Its a fucking fact. This was Londons biggest appeal for financial institutions and consulting agencies. London will bleed, whether you like/believe it or not. because I highly doubt that the EU will give the UK a 'fair' deal. You want the Swiss package? Well too bad, it completely fucks over the financial sector. You want the Norwegian package? Well too bad, their deal is even worse than the one you just left behind.

You wanted freedom and that is fine. But acting as if this isnt going to have an impact is completely fucking retarded. Rely more on other people than they rely on you. Your exports are below that of the Dutch and Hong Kong. You have the second highest surplus deficit on the planet (just behind the US). You wont be in a position to make to demand something. No one is saying that the UK will die or that you will soon live in mud huts, but you people keep acting as if this wont have an impact on your economy when in reality it completely fucks over one of your biggest sectors (that you just all happen to hate, but its still one of the biggest and most important sectors).

Maybe initially. But once we find our feet and we start distributing the wealth we save each year we'll be fine. I doubt there will be much difference.

In our field, we usually have to work for a living. If we are just messing around with shit and get no results then we aren't going to get paid much. This will just push competition, innovation and results. Its a good thing.

So, I work for a university in one of the science depts.

I won't say which, as I don't want to give too much of myself away. As it stands, the chemistry dept. was scared shitless of losing EU funding, as such, more or less every research group and employee voted remain.

Being a bit cynical, I say bollocks to the vast majority of research, as a lot of it is 5 year "wait and see" projects with little to no actual gain. I'm thinking a lack of funding might make us a bit more selective of the research we do.

>could
>The main findings can be summarised as follows. Whereas the fiscal cost of the UK-born population amounted to nearly £88bn in 2014/15, EEA immigrants cost £1.2bn and non-EEA immigrants cost £15.6bn, a net cost of £16.8bn
> the only sub-population group making any positive contribution in the year is composed of people from the 'old' EU countries together with people from Norway, Iceland and Switzerland. While it could be said that the recent A10 and recent non-EEA groups are making a less negative contribution than the UK-born, it should be noteded that the UK-born 'deficit' is more than entirely accounted for by the cost of spending on pensions, without which the UK-born group would make a positive fiscal contribution. In contrast, the immigrant group is in 'deficit' even without bearing pension costs.

Oh look, you can kick out the money holes.

Yeah that's really the question I'm trying to chase down the answer to. Based on what I can find the UK public seems somewhat more receptive to the idea of GMOs than continental Europe and I'm curious if this higher acceptance will translate into a willingness to relax regulations on that and biotech in general. Like you said it'll probably have to be a wait and see thing for now since there's still a lot of uncertainty in what direction things are going to go.
