>Second EU referendum will be considered for parliament debate as petition hits 100,000 sigs

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/131215

Already at 140k votes.

You cucks don't understand how a democracy works. This does not undermine the democracy. If, after seeing this catastrophe that is already happening, another referendum takes place and people vote remain it is totally democratic.
>>
Well, I guess we'll have to start a petition if remain wins.

You can't just call a whole national vote because you didn't get your fucking way. That's NOT how democracy works. Sign your online petition, go nuts till you die from a heart attack, but you still LOST.

If we weren't leaving Cameron wouldn't have resigned.

We don't hold endless referendums until a manufactured result is achieved. This country is, thankfully, a functioning democracy. The people have spoken. It's a democratic republic, and the referendum vote is NON BINDING. This is why republics work better than direct democracies, because the masses are uninformed and stupid. Parliament may, and possibly won't respect the referendum due to how damaging the consequences are.

Deal with it. Full direct democracies are stupid, and none actually exist. Quit using the word democracy as a meme when you don't understand how your own government works.

>>
>>78544557
They can't. Cameron has already stepped down, it would cost them millions, and most likely cause riots. And even if none of that was an issue, we could just pull the same shit and force a third referendum.
They're required to consider it. That means about 5 backbenchers who need a career boost will meet in a side-chamber and talk about it half-heartedly, just like they did with the petition to ban Donald Trump, just like they did with the petition to totally close the borders. We're leaving, lads. It might take 2 years or 2 weeks depending on the mood in Brussels, but it will happen.

Up to them. They can call an election at any time, it just never happens because they'd risk relinquishing power early. With their own party in turmoil, Labour returning to their socialist roots, and alternative right wing parties surging across Europe, they'd be mad to try.

>>
>>78548487
No, democracy is shit because the masses are too stupid and ignorant to make educated decisions. They can be easily swayed by propaganda, the mass media, and the will of the few.

Most people don't care about what happens in the world, or how it affects them. The majority are more concerned with watching the next batch of celebrity news to bother with real world problems.

Plato himself already made this observation thousands of years ago when DEMOCRACY voted to have Socrates killed because the idiot masses didn't like what he was saying.

The ideal government would be technocratic communism under the rule of a philosopher king AI. It's pretty much what Plato wanted. AI is incorruptible, and would make the optimal and rational decisions while analyzing all the consequences.

I can't wait for Super Intelligent AI to be a thing so we can replace all the ruling classes with it, and you morons can go back to your celebrities and drama. Capitalists and Nationalists be damned. You're too dumb to govern yourselves.
>>
>>78544043
It's going to be hard to put any value on that petition when the opposition already has 17.4 million signatures.

Nobody likes a sore loser.
>>
No, it's already too late. The wheels have been set in motion. The world has reacted. The damage has been done. You cannot take it back. There's nothing to discuss. It was a fair referendum, you cannot cherry pick and go back because you don't like the results, otherwise you could argue that you could do that for every referendum if the result was "undesirable".

Imagine the following.

Nigger in chief starts a referendum to remove gun rights. It doesn't pass. Clearly. But wait. He repeats it again, and again, and again. Each time with increasing propaganda. Until it eventually passes. Does that sound democratic to you?

But wait. Then another referendum is created to reinstate gun laws. Woah. The logic is unbelievable.

It's done. Brexit happened. The only question now is if they'll leave through article 50 over the period of 2 - ??? years, or if they'll repeal the 1972 communities act to end their obligations to the EU, and potentially leave as soon as next month.
>>
You're on the wrong side of history remainers. It's CURRENT YEAR for goodness sake. Democracy has spoken.
>>

>>78544391

>>
>>78549277
I'd bet only like 1% of the voters go into a booth and check random shit. Everyone will at least google what the fuck they are voting on before walking in there. Not a 100% educated vote but if they read enough to have a decision on what they want it is perfectly acceptable and never fails. If immigration fears were a problem well they clearly had the fear already and the Brexiters tapped it not Brexit's fault they had that fear already.
>>
>>78549471
Hugely unlikely we'll just repeal the act like that. We'll take the negotiation period and set up a bilateral treaty. The corporate overlords have already given Juncker his instructions, he said this morning that negotiations need to get underway as soon as possible.

When something gets put to a vote for the electorate, the people on the losing side can't just have a do-over again and again and again until they get the result they want. >>
>>78549719
Yeah, no. Googling something is not making an informed decision. Especially when you're basically getting fed lies and misinformation from modern media.

Democracy works great in a world that is much simpler. But in our modern technocracitc world filled with conflicting opinions, and contrasting facts. Most people rely on their first instinct and can't be bothered to measure the consequences of their decisions, and vote emotionally. It's an information overload, and unless you keep up with global events on a regular basis, you're horribly unprepared to make a rational decision. You need to measure the remifications of your vote, but most people don't because in their minds, their political decisions are so far removed from their daily lives.

And that's IF they bother to fact check at all. a large part of the global populous is incredibly stupid.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJuNgBkloFE

Bear in mind that these people VOTE

And it's like that in America like it's everywhere else.

Bear in mind that there are people in the US who are VOTING for Hillary Clinton. Despite having criminal charges pressed against her by the FBI.

Same as in Spain where people are voting for the PP despite having caught various party members literally stealing public money to buy houses in Miami for their secret lovers and such.

People make their deciusions emotionally, and backwards rationalize them to fit their narrative. That is fact, and it's not a good mix for politics.

>>78549973
>Aristocracy
Like hell it is.

Man isn't fit to rule. Power corrupts, unless you're dealing with a very wise and honorable person, and even then, they'll do it for glory.

But those days are long gone.

In our modern world, only machine is fit to rule over man. I yearn for that day to come given how dumb modern people are.

In the meantime. Democracy needs some drastic changes. Voting should be by merit, not age.
>>
>>78544043
more jew lies.
>>
>>78551280
Do away with the minimum age, and replace it with a system where you must pass a basic education and culture exam in order to earn a license to vote. Age, gender, race, religion, etc... don't matter. Anyone can take the exam, but only those who are intelligent are fit to vote.

It doesn't even have to be political questions. Just simple basic knowledge stuff, like naming the countries in the EU. Some basic history, some basic science, some general culture, etc...

If you're 10 years old and really smart and informed, congrats, you can vote howeveryou wish. If you're 40 and are an uneducated hick too stupid to know about the world, sorry, you don't deserve to vote.

Just simple questions that have an objectively correct answer.

Stuff like history, and maths, and science. You can even have a computer be the one to evaluate the answers, since again, it's simple questions that have clear answers, but still measure a person's general knowledge.

And since EVERYONE has to take it, if an exam has political bias ever, people would know immediately.

>"In light of this vote, we first need to reflect on the choices people made and why they made those choices. I'm sure there are concerns but perhaps the decision was rash and many voters did not fully comprehend the ramifications. We must not forget the very substantial portion of our people who wished to remain in the European Union, and in light of new facts many Leave voters may not still be committed to their decision. Democracy does not mean being tied to single impulsive decisions that cannot be reviewed and changed, rather the process is dynamic and ever evolving and the actions of this government must meet those realities. To do anything else would be simply to impose a tyranny on a minority by a majority, and this is not what our country stands for"

It's not about being left or right wing. Quit making the world black and white, because it's definitely not like that at all.

Anyone who deals in extremes is a fucking idiot, LEFT or RIGHT.

Stick to the left and you get oversensitive liberal crybabies, stick to the right and you get uneducated nationalist morons. Doomed either way.

Both sides have positive points, but sticking loyally to one is absolutely stupid.

I'm pro stay, but I support Trump, but I'm also an atheist, and believe the world needs to be mindful of the ecosystem lest we all wanna choke on smog and die in less than a century. I agree that big corp should be weakened, and that globalization has hurt the world.

What the fuck does that me then?

It's not about left or right, it's about measuring the consequences of your decisions, and if one decision is too damaging for the world economy and the idiots who emotionally voted to doom their own people, YES, it should be carefully considered, and possibly rejected.

Weigh the consequences of your decisions. That's why republics exists. That's why you elect politicians to represent you, because the masses are too stupid to govern themselves.

Would you accept a 52% majority referendum to ban funs?

Citizens have a right to call for redress if they feel the political system isn't providing fair representation, democracy shouldn't be mob rule, it's the same reason one group of citizens can't vote away the rights of other, small groups.

I seriously doubt they'll hold another referendum though, turnout was good and everyone accepted it was going to be close. We'll just end up with a very vocal pro-Europe segment in our politics in the same way the SNP surged after narrowly losing their referendum.

>>78557004
I lived in California for 8 years. I agree that the west coast is the best coast. But people in California are miles more educated than the hicks in Florida and Alabama. I lived there for 5 years, trust me.

Direct democracies work when people more or less have similar ideas, and the population is small enough to be manageable.

However, California has also been hurt in the past by its own government and lobbies.

LA is still massively polluted and has awful traffic. SanFran got flooded with liberals twinks. You still run pesticide all over your crops. And Cali was the one to destroy the upstart of the Electric car due to corporate lobbies and the public not taking action.
>>

Well no, but that's why we don't use direct democracy in the first place. The Founders feared mob rule more than any one tyrant.

If you're legally mentally handicapped and can prove it, and this has to be very strict, you don't have to take the exam. But you have to prove you're mentally retarded, and I mean have serious learning disabilities

And you know what, now that I think about it, fuck discrimination. Yeah, I will discriminate against the retarded, because they depend on the mentally able to look after then, so if they can't be fully autonomous, they shouldn't be making ppolitical decisions. Even if it IS discrimination, sorry. But fuck leftism.

False equivalency. The founding document of the UK does not demand that they stay in the EU. How is it democratic. The vote was clear. On both sides there are millions of people. Only needing 100k signatures to revote means it will go endlessly, each side constantly making the petition.

The vote should only be done once. If a next time is voted only way remain can win is have a kinimum of 60% needed for leave to win, which is unfair as it effectively makes each leave-voter vote worth less than a remain voter as you need more of them.
>>

Democracy is mob rule. all the people get together and make a decision. the group with the majority, even if it is by one vote, wins.

this holds for just about anything they choose to vote on; be it civil rights, basic laws, the lives of individual humans, it's all up to the will of the majority.

Not my point, numbnuts. My point is that there are also plenty of good reason for leaving. Perhaps Leavers did in fact do their research, but they just had different priorities and ideas of what is good for the country than the people currently bitching do. That's how a democracy works (you can argue over whether that's a good thing, but i won't). People vote based on what they think is best, and most of the time there is no clear cut, obvious and objectively best option in politics.
The narcissism I spoke of lies in believing that your personal idea of what the UK needs (which is based largely on your personal desires) is the one true and objectively obvious best choice.

We don't have referendum here, so the question is moot.

If Congress voted for a law to do that, and the President signed it, the courts would toss it.

Civil war, hopefully.
If the Remainers want to contest this vote, they can bloody well pick up their spoons and fight.

>The Scots are leaving us for the EU!

Fuck off.

40% of Scotland voted to LEAVE THE EU. They're not going to vote for independence and rejoining of that shit.

You would have to get ~85% of the remaining 60% to get a majority to leave the union.

Stop being cretins.

US is a Republic, UK is not. Sadly.

Welcome to what the Romans learned when copying the Greeks.

A simple majority can't amend the Constitution, and thus cannot revoke rights. It would take a 3/4 majority of states (38 out of 50) to ratify an ammendment to nullify the second.

Representative democracy > direct democracy

Londonistan is staying in the EU, scotland is stayiing in the EU, ireland is staying in the EU.

>Keep making votes until remain wins
>It's totally democratic and you're racist if you don't agree

Yeah no. We might as well blow our fucking brains out if this happens as it's basically proof of any free will being completely dead.

Democracy - feed the unwashed fucking proletariat masses lies and fucking propaganda year on year from the fucking teat until they're old enough to vote for the option of financial suicide. Thanks, retards!
