The thing with communism is that there will never be a shortage of people alienated by capitalism, pissed off workers or the short comings of the lower class. It's just inevitable.
Unless the liberals here have their way, hopefully we'll have pissed off workers with guns.

post-war social democracy mostly fixed the issues of capitalism through full employment and active state intervention. Japan rose from the ashes under keynesianism insanely quickly.

I understand that it works with some countries. Honestly I think that not every country can be run the same.
The thing with Japan that it had America (which was an insanely huge economic powerhouse) to back it. It didn't have to worry about defense or really anything due to being an island country under US protection. With the US specifically since we had virtually no competition we could get away with probably any kind of economy. We were strong enough to effectively choose which countries were successful and which weren't, with a few exceptions.
It works, but not in every country and not often not well enough. Americans simply aren't happy and I don't trust mixed economics enough.
